LUMIN M1 REVIEW
High Fidelity Magazine have published their review of LUMIN M1.

Following in the footsteps of LUMIN S1 an A1, LUMIN M1 is awarded their Red Fingerprint.

During the review Wojciech Pacuła states:

"this is probably one of the best ways to combine convenience and sound, achievable for the money."

"The player has a surprisingly high factor of "surprise", especially naturalness."

"It plays on emotions, engaging with the world before us."

"I highly recommend it. Red Fingerprint."

I love their other products. I haven't heard the M1 but as reviews are starting to surface, looks like a great piece.

Another review from 6moons, with a Blue Moon award:

Joël Chevassus, the reviewer, was one of the first to review the Lumin A1 and subsequently the S1, which he owns, so he would have a good handle on the Lumin sound. Looks like another home run from them, with comments such as "I could very honestly live forever happily with the Lumin M1 and my Vivid Giya G1." It appears though that "All DSD and PCM files, including quad and double DSD, are resampled to arrive at such 24-bit/176.4kHz resolution."

Incredible achievement. It's going to sell like hot cakes.

Just for clarification purposes, the Lumin M1 is $2200 MSRP in the U.S. If you buy direct from HK, you have to pay import duties and there is no dealer support. Lumin recommends you buy from a U.S. Dealer. They are only offering direct for people who live in countries where there is no Lumin representation.

Interesting observation.

Wojciech Pacula from HighFidelity.pl used the Harbeth M40.1 in his review. So, fortunately, you won't need esoteric speakers to do the amp justice.

Any idea what Lumin use as their reference amps? Would be keen to know what the M1 was benchmarked against.

Had a look at the M1 today. Well put together except for the volume control and power button - appears to be some sort of frosted finish/paint?

Instead of comparing against other amps, M1 was tested with a variety of speakers to ensure that it is capable of driving them well.

Ayre. Guess which line of speakers were used with Ayre amps during their CES 2014 show...

Thanks. Given the very positive reception to the M1, I wonder if there will be other (higher end and milled from solid aluminium block?) models in the range...

Mine is still breaking in, but is already producing very fine audio. This is a no-brainer piece of gear at this price point. I think it can outshine equipment at twice the price. And the Lumin interface is a pure joy. I thought it may be a bit bass shy, but that too is coming around nicely. I have this integrated powering a pair of 3-way Talon Firebird speakers, with no problems whatsoever !! This little gem is going to be a winner. THANKS MIKE.

Jerry - I'm going to have to come up to Tampa for a listen.

I have one right now and I must say it does indeed have a nice subtlety and emotional content, while staying clean, for the price. It reminds me of the NAD systems of my youth -- just engaging, inviting to music listening. I'm not sure I would call it high-fidelity, but a wonderful machine for the price.

Then again, I could only use it via AirPlay so far as I don't have an iOS device and the new Android app I downloaded keeps crashing upon starting.

Please submit crash report when the device prompts you to.

You may use an alternative app Bubble DS Next to control Lumin playback on the Android platform. It also supports Lumin playback of Tidal and Qobuz lossless streaming content.
