Thanks. I just sent him an email.
I bought a D1 a few weeks ago. And it is GREAT!!!!!!!!!!
It's a good value with the included power supply but I had a Ken Lau power supply I bought for a Lumin L1 server and with it I truly think it with the upgraded Ken Lau power supply truly somewhere sound wise between the A1 that I used to have and the S1 that I own 2 of in 2 systems. I've never heard the T1 but when I was comparing the D1 with Ken Lau PS and the S1, with the Dag pre/power amp going into Raidho D1s. It was very hard to tell which was with in an A/B comparison. I could 97% of time identify them but only because I'm really familiar to the differences between the A1 and S1 that I've had compared before since i young the A1 2-3 years ago.
I am seriously thinking I will sell my 2nd S1 and replace it with the D1 and PS. So if anybody wants a deal on an S1 - let me know.
I want to also add that Ken Lau has a new PS especially for the D1 and also an super PS for the S1. BOTH of which I've ordered and will have in the next few weeks. Who knows - all opinions might change once heard.
I think the D1 connected to the W4S STP-SE ( very neutral pre) is a nice combination.
Hey Jock. Did you try the Lumin A1 with a Kenneth Lau PSU?
I did. And still have the Lau PSU for an A1, just don't have an A1 anymore. I found it made more of a different sound than a definite upgrade. Depending on your system, I can see it being the new sound signature a better match. In my system at the time, it was a sideways move.
I defiantly think the Super Lau PSU for the S1 as a def improvement on the S1.
Not having an A1 to compare - no way to be sure. But the D1 with an upgraded power supply - I use Lau's - is really GREAT and isn't shamed in a comparison with the S1, although the S1 is better.
D1 (with LPSU) arrived this morning.
Congratulations on your new purchase! Which LPSU - Kenneth Lau's?
I've not done any extensive listening yet, but at first glance (listen), the D1 + LPSU seems to have *slightly* more clarity/focus, the A1 being *slightly* softer.
Anyone else think the same, or different?
Agreed, but I would classify the A1 as "warmer".
