Lumin D1. Wow…. It's a steal.

Got mine yesterday. Not sure about the app yet, my initial thoughts are that I prefer my previous setup of Jremote and Jriver but setup on the D1 was a breeze. Main issue so far is not all my album art displays where as it is fine in Jriver. Also I have always used Spotify up to this point but plan to move to Tidal and see how that integrates with the Lumin app. SQ is very good though, just wish that the power button wasn't recessed behind the rear casing making it a PITA to get to.

Got my D1 up and running this morning. Simple to setup, no issues with the app. I've been streaming from my flashdrives and my NAS (minimServer). The music is stunning. The mid-range is smooth and enjoyable and I found the sound stage more vast than expected. The deeper bass notes had punch and the highs were clear not bright. So far I've been running 24/96 & 24/192 downloads moving into some DSD this afternoon. I think the D1 connected to the W4S STP-SE ( very neutral pre) is a nice combination.

Thanks Mike.

I bought a D1 a few weeks ago. And it is GREAT!!!!!!!!!!

It's a good value with the included power supply but I had a Ken Lau power supply I bought for a Lumin L1 server and with it I truly think it with the upgraded Ken Lau power supply truly somewhere sound wise between the A1 that I used to have and the S1 that I own 2 of in 2 systems. I've never heard the T1 but when I was comparing the D1 with Ken Lau PS and the S1, with the Dag pre/power amp going into Raidho D1s. It was very hard to tell which was with in an A/B comparison. I could 97% of time identify them but only because I'm really familiar to the differences between the A1 and S1 that I've had compared before since i young the A1 2-3 years ago.

I am seriously thinking I will sell my 2nd S1 and replace it with the D1 and PS. So if anybody wants a deal on an S1 - let me know. :)

I want to also add that Ken Lau has a new PS especially for the D1 and also an super PS for the S1. BOTH of which I've ordered and will have in the next few weeks. Who knows - all opinions might change once heard.

Hey Jock. Did you try the Lumin A1 with a Kenneth Lau PSU?

I did. And still have the Lau PSU for an A1, just don't have an A1 anymore. I found it made more of a different sound than a definite upgrade. Depending on your system, I can see it being the new sound signature a better match. In my system at the time, it was a sideways move.

I defiantly think the Super Lau PSU for the S1 as a def improvement on the S1.

Thanks again Jock.

I'm quite certain the second hand Lumin A1 seller has scammed me - thankfully I made sure it was a split payment so it's not all bad. Live and learn.

This post makes me wonder about getting the Lumin D1 instead and upgrading the PSU. Do I recall you saying it bettered the A1?

Not having an A1 to compare - no way to be sure. But the D1 with an upgraded power supply - I use Lau's - is really GREAT and isn't shamed in a comparison with the S1, although the S1 is better.

Very impressive considering the price difference. If this A1 doesn't turn up, I'll go the D1 route. Thanks!

I sold a Lumin M1 today. Will be the first one in the U.S. Stay tuned.

Ordered the D1 with linear PSU. Looking forward to receiving it :¬)

D1 (with LPSU) arrived this morning. It's absolutely amazing! Absolutely analogue - no harshness - tangible and holographic sound. All while offering great detail retrieval. I'm hearing things in songs I've not before.

The Moon 600i plays a part in that too, but goodness me, the Lumin + 600i + Abyss is a dream combination.

Thanks fellas!

Getting an A1 from a local dealer tomorrow to compare. Perhaps also an S1.

I've not done any extensive listening yet, but at first glance (listen), the D1 + LPSU seems to have *slightly* more clarity/focus, the A1 being *slightly* softer.

Anyone else think the same, or different?

Agreed, but I would classify the A1 as "warmer".

Agreed indeed :¬)

You guys mentioned that the Lumins are not better than one another, it's more so about system matching.

The Simaudio 600i is on the slightly warm side, the D1 pairs well with it. With the A1 it's a tad too gooey.

could any one give me a little comparison with this vs the aurender n100 both seem to be great, I suppose the sound is close? I was interested in the Tidal streaming aspect the most.
