Lumin App Request

While I appreciate you offering a possible solution, it just feels WRONG for me to have try to re-config my perfectly fast reliable router to run, what seems like a VERY SIMPLE app.
If my 11 year old IPAD can run the program perfectly fine without ever having schizophrenic seizures with the volume control...why would I even remotely entertain the thoughts of possibly blowing up my EAR DRUMS up with an untested tablet. Sorry I don't agree with your answer.

I think you need to put everything down and just walk away. You are not ready for anything requiring any effort or trial.

This has been available for analog output of Lumin X1 P1 T3 T2 S1 (ESS models) since several months ago.

Re: Balance Control: Wow - how have I missed this? I'm a little late to the party, but it is making a huge difference in my less than great room. (Terribly unbalanced furniture, no acoustic treatment, listening spot not ideal, etc...) Just sliding the balance control two to three clicks to the right has brought that sweet spot to exactly where it should be.

I and many others have commented on how LUMIN (Peter on this and other forums, specifically) has responded to customer requests and continually improved their products and user experience in MAJOR ways. For my case, this balance control is among my favorite improvements so far.

Another shout out to Peter and the LUMIN team: Thanks again for your always amazing work. You are appreciated more than you probably know!

Me and some friends of mine testet the sound qualitiy of different OpenHome controlpoints. We found that the white Linn App in IOS sounds much better than the Lumin app with the U1 Mini. Server is Minimserver on Synology NAS. Probably this is caused by to much traffic based on the controlpoint. The Lumin app always looks for new tracks in the database on server for example. This never stops if you have a very large music libary. So, first of all it would be nice to have a choice of database updates only by request or always on.
But, I think there are some other things making the Linn app sounding better. I love the Lumin app. The different views, the kind of filtering the searching.
So I looking forward to some sound improving feature.

This is more of question but if the answer is no then it will become a request.

If I tap on the “recently added” folder I get a list (or gallery) of all the songs of the all the albums that were added on a particular day. Is there any way to just add one of the albums represented into the playlist? Right now, it seems as though if I tap on a song it add all the songs, not just the songs in that album.

Is this the Lumin app native last-modified view with a star icon, or the folder view with a folder icon?

If it's the former, we have not discovered an unexpected behavior similar to the description so far.

If it's the latter, please turn off Add Full Album, or double tap individual songs.

It is the latter.

If I turn off "add full album" I assume that would apply if I loaded an album via the artist/album folder and I would always have to double click individual songs in any folder?

I meant to say tap and hold. I'm afraid folder view presents a set of limitations that are now in the other normal non-folder views.

Would be nice to see the whole playing time of a playlist, maybe at the bottom next to the # songs.

I saw new app version announcing cancellation of load media libary. This is a good news. But I didn‘t find a way to use the cancellation.
How can I use this feature?

The mconnect app has 2 additional options in the context menu for a song, which would be nice to have in the Lumin app if possible:
‘See Artist’
‘See Album’
These links jump directly to the specific artist’s page or album page, rather than calling up a search result. The mconnect rendering of the Artist’s page is very similar to the Qobuz app’s, with all their albums listed and favorite tracks, plus a ‘More’ button that takes you to a bio and related artists.

Is this capability available in the Qobuz API you use and could also be implemented in your app?

Thanks for considering.

P.S. Your implementation of the ‘My Weekly Q’ coupled with the new capability to add a song directly to any saved Qobuz playlist is a real time saver. I used to have to save the Play Queue to a new playlist and move those songs in the Qobuz app. Thanks!

Original from 2/2022:
Another request: is it possible to implement the TIDAL ‘My Daily Discovery’ mix?

In the native TIDAL app this shows up in the ‘For You’ section on the Home tab. The mConnect app implements this by adding it to the list of mixes under the ‘My Mix’ tab along with the other 8 ‘My Mix’ lists, so it looks like it’s in the API and something LUMIN could do too hopefully.

Thanks in advance.
Mike

Please provide a screenshot too for us to convince Tidal to give us what we need.

Hi Peter, just wanted to send that screen shot. It’s been over a year. Any chance of getting this feature? Thanks for all the other updates.

edit: attachment deleted since this feature isn’t necessary; see below.

Edit:
Actually, no need to implement this since LUMIN’s implementation of TIDAL Connect works very well.

I recently re-subscribed to TIDAL so I have been trying all the apps again (like mconnect), and it doesn’t matter if LUMIN implements this feature in their native app since the “TIDAL Connect” functionality, that LUMIN supports, works very well, so might as well just use the TIDAL app (with TIDAL Connect to LUMIN) when I want to explore the “My Daily Discovery” or “My New Arrivals” playlists. Works great.

Maybe there could be a chatGPT implementation. I tried with the free engine a search for a songtext and got it promptly (free engine seems to be limited in capacity because later on it won't answer me). But i thought it could be a nice feature to tap on the song in the lumin app and get the song text or album art etc. .

last update of ChatGPT db was in september 2021...would it really help?

Thats the free version and you are right it didn't find newer stuff.

Actually ChatGPT 4.0 was launched at 14.03.2023 but you have to pay for it but it isn't more then what people pay for streaming services.

You can now use Plexamp app with Lumin hardware. Plexamp supports AI for creating playlist, although it it most useful for Tidal (caveats - see my post on Lumin supports Plex).

ReplayGain support

Yes, I know Roon has a Loudness Leveling feature but I've tried Roon and it's not for me. I only play local flac files from a USB drive on shuffle so volume variances track to track are frequent and an annoyance. Thought Plex might be a solution as Plex Pass features Loudness Leveling and is much more affordable than Roon. However, Plex Pass only supports Loudness Leveling when casting to IOS or Android devices.
