looking for integrated upgrade for my SF Evolutions

I've read Steve's reviews of cameras for years. His style is not super technical, but very user oriented. I like it because of that, there are many sites that give the technical side of things.

That being said when I've read his personal audio thoughts, I was already used to his style and I very much enjoyed reading them. Definitely not a review, but an honest feeling of what he liked and didn't like.

Nice, honest review from Steve
+1
The only thing I don't understand why He liked so much ARC?

Hahahahhah

I have that bug since late 90's and I'm not letting it go

Tabooe, good to see you on here. I am new here. When i had my SF cremona M and now my Franco Serblin Ktemas, i went with the Simaudio 600i integrated. Ran the Cremona just fine, but a little shy on powere with the Ktema. With that said, great sounding amp and perfect power wise for your SF. Not experience with other amps, but what i have heard with SS the 609i is a goid match with SF.

Welcome and good to hear from you!! Thank you for the Simaudio advice. I will check it out. What I am wondering is how much I have to spend to get a measurable improvement over my current Accustic Arts Power 1 integrated. I have no doubt I can do better but at what price????

How is your system sounding? Any major changes recently?

Welcome Harris.

Well, since the last time I posted on your wall in Audiogon pushing the Accordos in your direction, I traded in the Simaudio 600i for the Simaudio 740p and 860a. In addition, I added the Simaudio 810LP since I could not pass of the price. New the 810LP is $12000 (overpriced), but I got it for $3000 and a trade in for the 310lp and 320lp. Could not pass it up. I did purchase a balanced xlr junction box for the VPI to replace the rca. Unfortunately when I went to change it out, one of the Vahalla wires were broken. So I am still waiting. Guess the big change for me is whether to decide to bring my system to Japan with me next year or buy a smaller system over there. I think I would really miss mine, but we will see as the time gets closer.

Unfortunately, I do not have the opportunity to listen to many systems to give you really good advice. You definitely have more experience than I. While in Seattle on my last trip I got the opportunity to stop into Definitive Audio and listen to the Dan Agostino Momentum Integrated. By far the best integrated I have ever heard, but it goes for 45,000.00.

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone. I look forward to reading and adding to the posts.

Harris, you travel a lot! Too bad you can't get a US spec Luxman DA-06 in Japan or else I would be hitting you up! The Japanese spec ones are half the retail price which is what I think DACs should cost. For me anything above $3k for a DAC is nuts. Let me know if you need me to babysit your Ktemas while you are gone! :)

Hi gang. I am looking to make a "final" (yeah right) upgrade to my integrated amplifier driving my SF Guaneri Evolution speakers. My current integrated is Accustic Arts Power 1. While I do not have any major complaints I wonder if I can do better (you dont know what you dont know right?). I value an organic sound and realistic reproduction of instruments like guitar and sax. I listen to a lot of acoustic and female vocals at low volume (~72db and below) so hearing the nuance and emotion is critical to me. I am indifferent to tubes or solid state. My budget new or used is $10-$12K. The only feature I want is a remote.

Thank you in advance.

tboooe,

My recommendation would be for a darTZeel LHC-208, specially since you already have a computer-based audio setup. You'll be able to stream directly into the integrated, as it has a built-in DAC and streamer, and perhaps even sell the Luxman in the process, if you don't require physical disc playing. It does cost a bit more than your budget allows, around $15k I think.

Oh, and it has 200-something watts, so it'll handle your SFs just fine.

Ahhhhhh darTZeel. That has been on my must audition list for a long time! Thank you for reminding me. Let me look into that.
