LampizatOr Launch Event at Suncoast Audio

After spending several hours listening to the Pacific DAC in a system I know inside and out, I can honestly say, the Pacific is a world class DAC and so much better than my Big 7/GG with its balanced neutrality, superb midrange, bass and extended top end. There is so much more air and extension than my Big 7 or GG, it's hard to fathom it could get that much better, but it has.

I agree and you are in a much better position to evaluate, given you know the room and the supporting equipment intimately.
PAC is a definite advancement of the Lampi state of play...not an easy task to accomplish, as I LOVE my GG.

Nice write up Mep. From the article I get the impression that the new DAC chip was much better than the R2R in GA (I know apples to orange comparison related to other components in the DAC)

Was any DSD material played through the Pacific? If yes, was it leveraging the new DAC chip or was it based on the chipless engine? Any comparison on the two methods?

Any additional information on the LAN setup? Was it ARM based or x86 based? Is it running customized Linux (assumption is that it is running customized version)? Was it used during the demo? Any sound differences between LAN and USB?

Sorry, too many questions for something that I can only dream off :-)

Mike can better fill you in on the details of the digital setup. From what I understand, the source was the LampizatOr Super Komputer which I believe is running Roon software. The majority of the software played was PCM I do believe.

The PAC is worlds apart from the Big7/GG imo, anyone liking the GG will melt over the PAC. There's a certain signature tone from the GG, emphasized with the tooby rolling , with the PAC playing for hrs i was never once drawn to it's sound never thought i could single out what it was doing , most of what i heard as a signature was speaker/amp related , later confirmed when we switched around the amplifiers.

I would have to spend more time with the PAC to really evaluate the demo, it's a pretty neutral piece IMO and gorgeous to boot ...

Phil, were you the gentleman with the ponytail?

No that wasn't me

I was the scary guy who looked like this

Totally agree. I finally have all the "trade up" details worked out. Lampizator giving full value for GG's (regardless of where you bought it) and prorated for Big 7's etc toward trade up to Pacific is incredible. For example, someone upgrading from a Golden Gate balanced with volume control to Pacific with Volume control is 11,000 EUROS difference + shipping of about $550. All original tubes that came with the GG must be included in the return.

This trade up program will not be in affect forever. So if you're considering, contact me at 941 932-0282 or [email protected]
