My first night/day with the Lampi was playing into my Jolida with KT-150's as an integrated basically running single ended via the XLR inputs on the amp. While it was great, I've been repeatedly told the true magic happens with running the Lampi fully balanced direct to a balanced amp.
Tonight I hooked up my Pass XA60.5's and I have to tell you, Wow! Lukasz, Fred, Norman and Rob are totally right. I normally prefer a preamp in the chain but the Lampi seems different. I suspect some songs/recordings may indeed benefit from a fully balanced preamp but for the most part the soundstage is HUGE! Left, right and top to bottom, beautiful music fills my room. Everything seems more correctly placed as well. ZERO sibilance and sweet vocals. Great depth and even better 3D to the music. I like the Lampi direct, a lot. It certainly simplifies my system. My Lampi is really fulfilling a need/void that is undeniable.
I plan on trying my single ended amps direct too and see what I gain/miss in the process. I still have room to tweak and account for break in. I am amazed and a happy camper.
