No secret, I live in Lake Tahoe Nevada and my two favourite skiing locations in this area are both Heavenly and Alpine [sometimes, Northstar]. Bringing my iPhone and post a few photos from the mountain tops.

I have season passes at Rose and Alpine Squaw. Over the years I probably have the most days at Alpine, just slightly ahead of Rose. Northstar is probably next most frequent. Despite that, if snow conditions were equivalent I would prefer Squaw, but its best terrain usually does not have the best snow, unfortunately.

Enjoy! Awaiting the pics :)

I enjoyed the day of skiing. I took three pictures and totally forgot to take more shots when I made it to the black runs. Oh, well. Three pictures showing the journey upward. I'll be hitting the slopes everyday this month, I hope. I am obsessed with keeping my self fit! 5'10 @ 158 pounds 6.5% body fat.

Golucid,

Please stop with the pictures already. I just returned from a week 60 miles south of Cancun and I can't get warm.

Hey, off topic but you are closest. I nominate you to check out (Roundhouse, NV):

This place is only 24 miles from my home. Shoot US50 and at their facility in under a half hour. I'm curious, now.

A couple from today, a couple from last Friday (nice inversion conditions  )

I'm an avid nordic skier and Tahoe/Truckee is the place. I've skied Royal Gorge many times. It is a beautiful and expansive ski area. One of these days, I'm going to do The Great Ski Race from Tahoe to Truckee.

Not a great winter for nordic here in the Northeast. All the snow is on the coast and none in the mountains. Mt. Van Hovenberg, the Olympic nordic ski center in Lake Placid, NY, is currently closed due to lack of snow. I usually have a season pass there. The Lake Placid Loppet, a nordic ski marathon, is in two weeks and I haven't even skied there this year. I ski the Loppet every year.

Ken, you are a rock star. I am an average skier. I value my knees to much to hit too many black runs. Almost everyone one of my friends have suffered serious injuries, so that kinda spooks me a bit. I am cautious.

Today I skied and by 2:30 pm I had to stop - ugh. The snow boarders were out in full force and thankful I know how to avert collision quickly. But when the interruptions get to be too frequent, might as well call it quits and go to the lodge and have a glass of something good and potent. I'll hit the slopes tomorrow.

This is my backyard tonight.

Thanks David! Absolutely wonderful photographs, every one one of them. You have an artist's eye. You are blessed to live in one of the most beautiful places in this country. Don't let the snow boarders get you down. There's always tomorrow to hit that powder!

Enjoy,
Ken

Ken, tomorrow will be busy and great, of course. Thought the temperatures are amping up and snow is melting rapidly at the lower levels. On the horizon, the week after next should be another storm - we hope. I am not ready for winter sports to end!
