Has anyone seen this in the wild? I know of one amp using it, but will the current KT-120 based amps be able to use the KT-150 as a drop in replacement?

The Tube Store posted on their Facebook page July 24 that they should see them in roughly 2-3 months. Whether they will be a drop in replacement is unknown right now. Once Tung-Sol publishes the specs it should be more clear.

wow look at those frickin things!!! they are too cool looking. i want to buy one to put on my nick nack shelf.

Not sure I like the shape, a little curve in the middle somewhere always has a little more appeal.

Are those amps in your photo yours? If so, congrats. Just heard those with Altair 2s last week. great stuff. Also on HRS racks.

Yes they are, we are setting up a pair of Magico Q7 with the Altair and Centaur mono's next week. Where did you hear the Altair 2, in Hong Kong?
Congrats! Nice amps! Heard them in Boston with Altairs...great stuff. have known Paul at Goodwins for over 20 years. Great guy.

Nice, where they using Centaur or Hercules 2 amps?

DCS Vivaldi full stack, MIT HDX cabling, Constellation Virgo/Centaur & Altair 2s. Room (as you may know) was their primary room...about 35x25x10'...great audition.

I found this response on Agon in the amp/preamp section.

Xri16 just heard the KT-150 the other day on a Octave RE-290, compared to the KT-120 is like comparing a Rolls Royce to a Toyota. Surpasses the KT-120 in every way. A more extended bandwidth with a blacker background, bigger and deeper soundstage, a much fuller sound with a lot less grain. Once you hear this tube, all the other tubes just simply became obsolete, a perfect match with the current Genelex Gold Lion input tubes, in this case the 12AU-7's. Can't wait for them to issue a Gold Lion version of this tube.
I am Xti16 on Agon not Xri16. They seem to be showing up on e-pray for 300/quad and up. I'm waiting for some good tube resellers to start offering them before I try them.

Do we have a list of what amps can accept the KT150's?

I wrote to Mick at Dynaudio to ask Andreas if the KT150's are compatible with my Octave V110. Mick wrote back and Andreas is currently trying them in the V110. Mick also said the transformers are bigger in the V110 (compared to the V70se and I wasn't aware of that) and he didn't think the KT150's would be a problem. But I'll wait for Andreas to respond.

As far as a list that may be a while. After all it took some manufacturers quite a while to test the KT120 and start offering them as an option.

We've just finish test the newest version of Ayon Spirit 3 based on KT150 and improvement from KT88 ver. is amazing

I recently heard the KT88 version on my speakers and I was very impressed. I'd love to hear the KT-150 version.

KT150 version offers not only much more power (Pentode mode KT88: 2x 55W / KT120 2x 60W / KT150 2x80W; triode mode KT88: 2x 35W / KT120 2x 40 W / KT150 2x60 W ), but also a lot of musicality and almost over saturated colors and body between edges. I've compared the KT150 ver. with the older (KT88 signedby Ayon a pair of Tungsol 12AU7 & pair 6SJ7 NOS General Electric) and almost two years ago I reviewed Spirit 3 with Shuguang Treasure Series KT88 (50th anniversary) & JAN Philips 12AU7.
During next two weeks we'll publish English version of current review

So is this a new Spirit model that accepts the KT150s? I asked the USA importer and he said that the Spirit III I have can't take KT150s as a drop-in replacement. Are there new driver tubes as well (6SJ7s)? I tried the KT120s which work but I found that while they had more bass, overall sound quality was not as good as with the Ayon KT88sx's. Less air, tone, etc.
