I remember seeing them play and Emerson had that large rotating platform. Good group.

Keith Emerson, the legendary co-founding keyboardist in Emerson Lake and Palmer has died. Long-time bandmate Carl Palmer’s publicist has posted a message that confirms Emerson’s passing last night (March 10) in Santa Monica, Calif. He was 71.

Heartbreaking. Another great one gone. I grew up on Brain Salad Surgery. I was 14 and it was the coolest music I ever heard. RIP Keith.

Yes I was about 14 when that album came out. I remember my parents freaking out when they saw the album cover on top of my rig.

Let's hope that Keith is now playing in the Show that never ends....
 
Man, our rock stars are dropping like flies this year. Bummer. I saw ELP when they were touring with the 50 piece orchestra which didn't last very long because it was so expensive. Awesome show. I also saw them at the original/inaugural California Jam.
 
Update: Santa Monica Police confirmed to Billboard that Keith Emerson died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and his death has been ruled a suicide. Other sources have noted Keith Emerson had recently been suffering from a serious medical problem -- a degenerative nerve issue in his right hand ... according to sources he could only play the keyboard with 8 fingers at this point and knew it was only going to get worse.
