Just now purchased the ClearAudio Double Matrix Sonic

Mark I get where you are coming from but on the other hand, David is keeping a fairly constant level of filth from sample to sample which would be impossible to do with flea market records. His filth may not be your filth or my filth but the purpose is to perform a relative analysis between the cleaning capability of each piece of equipment and a standardized filth is key in doing so. The other point i would make is that I sure like his style!

I just don't see the relevance of his testing. The junk he is applying to LPs and then trying to remove is not the norm of what most people would every buy and take home. Sort of like if you wanted to to do a comparison of different carpet cleaners and instead of using the normal shoe grime, pet accidents, and beverage spills you would normally encounter on a house carpet, you decide to gut a pig on your living room floor followed by dumping a bucket of tar on it. How would that testing help the average person shopping for a carpet cleaner?

MEP. Repeating myself again, this something I chose to do on my own and without your blessing, approval, support, agreement or input. You do need to understand me. In fact, I don't want you too. Whether you approve or disagree is immaterial - I don't care. I am a consumer with the financial wherewithal to explore and this is my journey. I own this. It is mine alone.

If you don't like this process, stop reading this thread. Worth noting, my perception, it appears to me that you just might be tempting the boundaries of disrespect - hmmm. Be that as it may, fault finding and complaining is negative, discouraging and depressing. Maybe, perhaps find within yourself something positive, supportive and uplifting instead of being the word of doom?

Your disagreement with me MEP falls on my deaf ears and I will refuse to read your rants if this is the direction and strategic plan you methodically are going to push - and that is to passive aggressively embarrass or humiliate and discount my efforts. I believe there is a feature hear on AS were I can just filter/block your posts. You may wish to do the same with me [I fully support that you do so].

I am resolute in my disinterest in your feedback going forward. Please find another thread. Yawn [long sigh] - go away.

Respectfully,

David

David,

Marks a good guy with a lot of knowledge. I wouldn't take his comments to personally. Some of us are more direct than others including myself. He means no harm or disrespect. His points are reasonable but so is your explanation as to your purpose and motivation. I applaud you and still appreciate Mark's focus on the norm versus the extreme. Both are relevant.

Fair enough but random selection from the flee markets may generate statistically irrelevant results. Something controlled but more within reach of the mean for filth would be good, but like I said I love David's style. Regarding my bold type in your quote above, do you mean to imply you don't have a tar covered pig in your living room?? I thought it went without saying pigs come first in these parts.

Paul, I appreciate your feedback and thank you.

I have been upfront from the get-go that I am a consumer and not an audiophile professional at any level or a professional in any industry - with no intent/desire to be in that arena or lobby a position of such.

#1 I love music more than the equipment and I am just some guy that goes to BestBuy, Amazon, Magnolia, Walmart, Target and I buy AM/PM or CostCo gas. I'm regular [no pun]. At times, I go to the hi-end hifi stores and that is lots of fun. The bottom line is, I AM NO EXPERT. I believe and feel no shame in this position.

Because I have been so clear about my background and what it is that I am doing. I do not deserve any mean spirited comments masked in passive tone or direct.

Again, thanks Paul for taking the time to present some rational. Very kind.

Best,

David

Its all good. You have a lot of support and I think that may include Mark too. I know I want to see your end results and I bet he might too.

BTW, I think your test is highly relevant for records held while playing Aqualung.:) Let's have fun and enjoy.

Snot is running down his nose --
greasy fingers smearing shabby clothes.
Aqualung

Paul, I talked to a guy that all he does is perform tests. And I talked to him at length about my wanting to understand the RCM cleaning processes and identifying their strengths and weaknesses. And I stipulate that I want to identify those things for me. Ugh...I'm being so careful to make certain that this is about my curiosity for me.

Anyway, he conveyed that I need to create a baseline. And his suggestions was just crazy...but it made sense to me. I needed to start with something over-the-top and then... from there work my way down to the more common scenarios but I needed to have some baseline to start with.

So, I created a baseline. Since then, I have been testing other scenarios and that documentation is forthcoming after I finally complete this crazy documentation about the ovee-the-top baseline.

Does that make sense...I hope?

After I post all this stuff and what I am experiencing, I am virtually pleading to the experts to help me make sense of it all. I have to say, the physical testing has been a hoot of fun. The painful part is writing it up!

And Paul...thanks again for being a perfect gentleman!

What do you suggest as a substance that would satisfy your concern?

I see what you are saying, you see this as the blue liquid in a maxi-pad or diaper.

I suggested Lint and olive oil. David came back with Cool Whip.

Whew...... I figured that but wanted to make sure. Myles does it the right way.

Riiiight! I bet Myles does it the right way, we need his help!

If it's Bourbon, no way I'm wasting it in an RCM... lick that baby clean ..........

David.......Only two more days until the Double Matrix Sonic shows up, right?

I wish. What I was told when I ordered it is that they hoped to have it in a week and that then they would ship it. Friday, however, I receive the Aurender N100H, thank you Mike.

Hi David,

I know I'm late to the dance but I read the entire thread and wish you the best of luck with your experiment/review. Can't wait to hear the findings.

Best,
Ken
