Alright, so here's something crazy...
These speakers sound quite a bit smoother with some humidity in the air.
Great speaker Zero!
Will we see a youtube review soon?
Harbeth and Spendor are often thought as direct competing brands but I guess Harbeth is more popular in North America.
Anyhoo, I do believe there is merit to what I experienced. Why?
For starters, just the simple act of opening a window will change how sound propagates throughout a room. It also changes the pressure equalization within the room. So by opening the window, the sound of the listening space itself is altered.
Mike,
I only have a few hours on em', but here's what I've noticed so far...
1) These speakers like a lot of toe-in. Moreso than the average speaker.
2) They are far more forward than I expected them to be. The top end is quite sparkly. Since Harbeth loudspeakers are known for being laid back, all I can say is, these certainly aren't!
3) Low-level detail is exceptional. Then again, since this is how Alan listens more times than not, I guess that's to be expected.![]()

4) All in all, these speakers seem to embody the tenets that British boxes are known for. They aren't the quickest in the world, nor are they the most dynamic speakers that I've heard at this price - but they are extremely musical. The big thing here though, is that the Super's are far more "modern" sounding than many classic BBC-type loudspeakers.
5) So far, I'm getting the impression that these speakers will pair best with gear that errs to the warm side of neutral. I find this interesting because the opposite is true with my little P3ESR's.
Opening a window will have very little effect on bass, nodes or otherwise, it might effect higher frequencies .
Keith.
Sean. Maybe I missed it...what do you drive them with ?
Only at higher frequencies, bass will travel straight through it, open or closed.Maybe, maybe not. Depends on the size of the window and it's location in the room. It will have an impact without doubt, but no way to know how much without help of the audiophiles bugaboo, measurements.
Vapor - I'm getting the impression that you WONT be opening your showrooms window during RMAF.![]()
Joe. This is completely different sounds compare to my 1st M40.1. I truly think there was something wrong with my old pair. You can call me "Crazy "Paul, what are you using to drive the 40.1 and what are your thoughts about them again?
Joe. This is completely different sounds compare to my 1st M40.1. I truly think there was something wrong with my old pair. You can call me "Crazy "
Yes. That's possible too. The M40.1 I had was sweeter sounds but somehow there was not enough bass. the new pair gives me more bass than Westies. The Westies supposed to go down to 18 hz but this Harbeth giving me more tight and punch bass also its not sweet sounds as I used to describe on Harbeth house sounds but very accurate though.....Weird.I totally understand. I worry that shipping damage, visible or not, can really mess up gear. You never know.
