The pic is blurry, and I don't care. I can't wait to play some music through these bad boys.![]()

1) These speakers like a lot of toe-in. Moreso than the average speaker.
2) They are far more forward than I expected them to be. The top end is quite sparkly. Since Harbeth loudspeakers are known for being laid back, all I can say is, these certainly aren't!
3) Low-level detail is exceptional. Then again, since this is how Alan listens more times than not, I guess that's to be expected.![]()

4) All in all, these speakers seem to embody the tenets that British boxes are known for. They aren't the quickest in the world, nor are they the most dynamic speakers that I've heard at this price - but they are extremely musical. The big thing here though, is that the Super's are far more "modern" sounding than many classic BBC-type loudspeakers.
5) So far, I'm getting the impression that these speakers will pair best with gear that errs to the warm side of neutral. I find this interesting because the opposite is true with my little P3ESR's.

Paul - Haha I too found it difficult to sleep last night. Yep, the Supers certainly err more towards the 'audiophile' sound. While I don't think they fully cross into that territory, there's no doubt that they dance all around that line.
Ritmo - Thanks! Unfortunately, they aren't mine. They are just in for review.

Call me MDP JrSean ! Wow! I love Bruce's SHL5+ and with the right amp are heaven.
You sneaky devil. I know something was up. Congratulations Paul. I am happy for you.
Alright, so here's something crazy...
These speakers sound quite a bit smoother with some humidity in the air.
To preface this comment: I normally don't open my windows until it gets a bit cooler and crisper outside. But since it's been so breezy, I decided to open up the windows to 'air out' the house. With the humidity resting at 65% (and a dew point of 62f), things got slightly balmy, but the room nonetheless felt comfortable.
It's important to note that when I did this, I had no intention on listening to the Harbeths in any critical way. In fact, my goal was to relax and surf the interwebs while music played in the backround. After about 5 minutes, I couldn't help but notice how smooth the HL5 Plus's were sounding. To see if I was going a touch insane, I threw different pieces of music at it. Dave Brubeck Quartets "Take Five" by Analogue productions. Van Morrisons "His Band and Street Choir". Smashing Pumpkins "Siamese Dream" and Eric Johnsons "Ah Via Musicom".
Yep. Def. smoother. Even at the sweet spot. Now I can't help but wonder if these speakers were voiced in a non-climate controlled room. Either that, or maybe I'm just going crazy.
Yeah... that's probably it.![]()
