Joe

Did you ever get a chance to check with the guy in Brooklyn on the SF Aniversario's? That would be close and he would have already taken the big depreciation hit if they were not your cup of tea.

I think from something in the ad he was already negotiating with someone, but hard to tell on Agon how old that is. Don't know what they sound like, but they sure are nice looking. I last heard SF's over ten years ago and those were very laid back to me even with a Krell amp and preamp. It made me wonder why Vandersteen got the reputation for "laid back." Granted the two pair I listened to were not from the Premier line like these, so they may be different. Unfortunately for me I have to drive over 250 miles in either direction to hear most of this stuff.

That guy is pretty local for me so it's hard to tell what's up. I've answered a few SF Strad ads and, it's funny, no responses at all from them. I even had a few friends from the forum contact the other Strad owners. No response for them either. Makes you wonder.

Yeah, I think Agon has basically gone in the crapper and there is no telling who the sellers are or where they are really. It appears the new "owners" are only about revenue. It looks like USA Audiomart might be a better alternative once sellers get tired of Agon. I sent feelers on a couple of pieces recently and heard nothing back including a seller who was supposed to be 30 miles from me.

If you order them remember to ask for the 21% Belgian VAT deduction; that would make them €22346 + shipping.

edit:

I see it's taken out automatically if you select delivery outside the EU.

+ shipping is free for worldwide orders over €3k.

+1 for Avalon. I found them to be very musical, and when I went to Sashas at first there was a little of the musicality that I missed, but the Sashas were superior to my "entry" level Ascendents. Mated with ARC Ref3/Ref110, they created an AMAZING 3D sound field. Certainly worthy of audition.

Just caught up on this thread...

Joe - why is weight an issue with Focal but not with other ones mentioned here? Seems that is the only one you singled out...

If you are looking at Sonus Faber how about the new mini Aida the Lilum?

Because I know they can be 300-400 lbs each for the ones that I'd consider. I'd like to keep the size reasonable. Something that would not need 4 people to set up or move :)

Stella may be around 350-ish, but Maestro is only 250... in the same range as many of these others. ;)

YES !!!

I am SERIOUSLY thinking about that little baby.

I am just waiting to see if KT-150's will be their new tube in case they need to make any changes. :exciting:

Love your avatar, are you coming out from the dark side (Mc) ?
:)
