Job pre2 - just took delivery

What struck me after the breakin is that the bass kept getting better and more detailed. Besides that obvious improvement, it got better all around...
 
Hey newbie79, do you find the soundstage flat at all with the Job PRE2?

I don't find the soundstage flat at all. What also struck me is the vertical soundstage, it seems taller than my previous amp (note: integrated used as pre)... I am enjoying the amp a lot, just ordered new rca's, hope that will improve the sound even more ;-)
 
Metrum Hex (with onboard streamer), Job 225, Pre2 and PMC Fact 8's a match made in heaven. After more than 500 hours burning in and 150 hours of listening this is the best match for my onboard HEX streamer. Creating an unbelievable realistic musical experience. Accuracy, soundstage and ambience .... just perfect.
 
Interesting comment about those cheap looking binding posts on the 225 amp, being used on the Telos model! So much for upgrading the binding posts. A good "lesson" in not rushing to upgrade certain things.
 
The speaker connectors are the same on the Epilog speakers too.
OTOH at a certain level in the power amps the proprietary silver plated speaker coax cable connectors are fitted to amps then the matching ones on the speakers are used.
 
Jaxwired, I saw your ad for the Job pre on Audiogon. Can you explain why it did not work out for you? The reviews seem to be mixed....
 
I think he just liked the tube preamp/SS amp synergy better, but if I remember correctly he is using Wyred4Sound Class D amps that have an input sensitivity of over 1.5mv. So if the Job was optimized for their amp (low gain) it might sound flat with amps that need more gain from the preamp. When I used my Wyred Passive/Buffer preamp with the Job it is a great match, but with amps with much higher input sensitivity it does sound a little flat.

Just found out the chief engineer for Goldmund also engineered the Primaluna's..

I was thinking why would Job put up Jaxwired's post on their website when Jax slightly preffered the Primaluna over the Job Pre2?

Now I know why lol..
 
Just ordered the Primaluna Prologue Premium preamp (thnx Joe!).. Will leave impression paired up with Job 225.

Really looking at the Bryston BDA-2 for the DAC then I am done!

Enjoy Naim. It was just a touch rich for my tastes and system; but a great piece. Built like a sh*t brickhouse...and should respond to rolling nicely.

If it were me, I'd start with these Philips 5R4GYS Made in Holland - Upscale Audio in place of the stock 5AR4s.
