Keeps getting better and better. Thank you for sharing Randy.

I've got a deposit down on the JOB and the Pre2 (scoring them both for 2k USD, as new!). My current speakers are pretty bad (Paradigm Monitor 3 v3). I'm going to upgrade (not necessarily sticking with bookshelves).

I like an uncoloured, but NON-fatiguing sound. ie. I can listen for hours on end (even at the slight expense of detail, if need be). I'll admit I love deep textured bass, N:B deep, not bloated mid-bass).

I've got a question for those who've got this amp burnt in already and know it's character: would the ATC SCM19 or SCM40 match well with the job? I've read reviews of both saying that the ATCs are not lush by any means, and if paired with other 'accurate' gear, can be too harsh. The reason I'm reading about ATC is because I have a pair of older ADS sealed speakers and for speakers with only a 5 inch woofer they kick out some great bass, so I'm very curious what a larger implementation can do.

Any thoughts? If the amp leans toward analytical, I fear the ATC will sound harsh to me.
Thanks in advance

Sorry, not familiar with the ATC speakers. I know the Job equipment is very smooth and has outstanding bottom end. The amp works very well with the KEF speakers... I assume the Pre2 has similar characteristics as the amp...

If you're looking for lush at the expense of detail, I would think ATC speakers may not be the best choice. Perhaps a pair of Sonus Faber Cremona Auditors? Any way for you to get some tubes in the signal chain? I don't find the 225 overly bright or analytical, but it is extremely fast and detailed. Not at all fatiguing, but I'm running it with a tube preamp, so YMMV.

Now that I have my main system pretty much complete I am already missing the McIntosh in my office and having a dedicated headphone system. The McIntosh was fantastic but just too much expense this early on in rebuilding my equipment to have dedicated to my office.

Anyway, I found a Denon headphone amp/DAC that was in an affordable range so I ordered one for the office. It has the same DAC as the Teac (DSD/PC), only not dual monaural. It should work fine with the Audeze since they are very low impedance. So at least I will have a nice headphone setup in the office; not as nice as the McIntosh but should be ok....

Looks awesome Randy. Such attention to detail as well. Beautiful photos and family. Thank you so much for posting.

Maybe I could hire you to clean up my rack :D

Thank you sir for the very kind words! So fly to NY to clean up your rack for you.... ok, we can do that :D.... Wire ties are your friend!

I'm using an early Job 225 that is configured for 120 VAC only. I'm moving overseas next month but will sorely miss the 225's sound on my LS50s.

Is anyone interested in trading a dual-voltage 225 for the U.S.-only version? My 225 has light use and no blemishes, and has the original box, manual, etc. I'm happy to cover shipping costs, if needed, plus a couple hundred bucks for the difference in age of the amps. I'm based in Manhattan.

I'll trade my appartment in southern Europe for your place in Manhattan. You can have brand new 225 which I'm about to order, I'll settle with your 225. :)

Where are you moving to?

Step up transformer or ask Job if its possible to send back back to Geneva for the power mod?

Thank you for those suggestions, Wisnon. I'm suspicious of step-up transformers, but I may well consult with Job. Perhaps it's a simple modification.

Hi All. Selling my JOB Pre2 and 225 pair if anyone is interested. I love how they sound, but have got into another hobby and since I bought this most recently, I'll miss it the least of the HiFi gear I have. They are in 'As new' condition and run on 240V AC electrical outlets (UK, Australia etc). EU style power cables are included. I'll post it in the classifieds section very soon.
