JOB 225 2-channel Power Amplifier ... update ...

C'mon Mike, let him list his heinously large collection of audio kit. Are you keeping the JOB as a fiscal yardstick like Srajan to be sure mega-buck amps have commensurate sound quality?

I'm thinking about sell everything else and keeping the Job 225. If you are thinking about one, better jump soon before the price goes up.

It's too late, Amazon is not listing the JOB anymore and don't know when or if ever they will offer it again. Maybe the $1699 universal voltage version will be available soon, JOB says September.

Keep your fingers crossed they come back in stock.

Joe, What power cords have you used with the JOB, and how sensitive is it to different cords? JOB's Sweetcord?

I have and use the Sweetcord but I also use a Shunyata Venom3. I have not really noticed a difference. It's funny, when the amps sell direct, the amp goes up in price but the cord comes down in price. The overall price is the same for the amp and Sweetcord. So if you are buying them both, there really is no price increase. Do you need the Sweetcord? I don't think so but I would at least use a good, solid cord.

OK...I was in the hunt for a new power amp...and got to you guys via "Computer Audiophile" where somebody told me to check out the new JOB 225 that everyone went "GaGa" over.
So, do you think JOB will tell us when the new batch of 115/230 VAC ampifiers are ready to be ordered or do we simple need to personally monitor Amazon ?
Also read someplace that they will start selling "Factory Direct" instead of Amazon...
As ready as a gun-slinger to order as soon as I have the possibility.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum. I've been keeping an eye on both Amazon and jobsys.com

I am not sure when the changeover will happen but I am doing the same as you. If it pops up again on amazon, I'm pulling the trigger again. A friend is buying one too. I expect that by next month Job will be direct sales. It sure is easy to buy from amazon and hope at last a few more amps will be available.

BTW, what's your first name?

You've got quite the line up of amps Joe. Now that the Job has been imbedded for a few months it must be good to stay in your sig.

btw...if you change "Audio Deske Vinyl Cleaner" to "Audio Desk RCM" you pick up a few precious characters. :)

Thanks Doug,

It really is a superb amp. Bob aka Absolare just told me the Goldmund 280 he just got in is outstanding. Now I'm scared. I am definitely going to hear it. I'll have to make some adjustments on my sig. ;)

He just told me it also runs very hot if that is a concern for you.
Nick
BTW is Alexia in your near future or near audition and does someone have to help optimize its setup for your particular room?

Hi Nick,

It's a little warmer than my other amps. I don't find it objectionable.

Alexia is a possiblilty but I need to spend more time with them. I hope to hear Vivid and Rockport too. Based on my love for my Studio2, I could see the Salon2 making an entrance especially after my CJ ART amps show up and play on my Studio2's. If it is amazing, I have some thinking to do.

Thanks..I will for sure monitor

My first name is Nils ( Scandinavian version of Neil....or maybe the other way around)

As noted above the new Telos 280 runs very warm. I think much warmer than the Job225. I also love the sound of the 225, but the Telos 280 is a much more refined sounding amplifier. Heck it should be more refined for 10X the cost of the 225, but I actually think that it is one of the clearest sounding amplifiers that I even heard through the D1's. Clear, transparent and dimensional....pretty special. Bob

Hi Nils,

Thank you for joining. I appreciate it. I believe the multi-voltage version of the Job will not be available until Job sells direct. I have a feeling that amazon will only sell the US version.

Thanks for the update Bob. As soon as I flipped the switch on the Job, I was floored. I can only imagine how the 280 sounds. I look forward hearing it.

Joe, My problem lately is that I have a good cdp and TT set up, Echole Omia IC's and then the Absolare Pre with the D1's. ANY amp that I seem to put in the system sounds incredible to me in my current set up. My room is heavily treated with ASI resonators, Novum dishes(2 each) and five IPC energizers and four IPC panels. Good problem to have but it makes it a little hard to say what any particular amps sounds like, when you connect any one of them and it seems totally satisfying.

Yes, certainly is a great problem to have. I hope you don't spoil me.

If they are local, I am gonna see if I can contact them in person...

I saw an email addy, but no tel number.

I had made a comment above about the new Goldmund Telos 280 amp running really hot. It did, for the first few hours that it was played. After a few days now it seems to have settled in and I would now say that it is warm, but no warmer than the Job225, if even that warm. Not sure why it ran hot the first day other than I was driving the heck out of it on the D1's, but now it is breaking in very nicely on the D1's and it is maintaining a very reasonable operating temperature. I have questions in to my Goldmund friends about why the Telso 280 sounds better than the big Goldmund mono amps????, which it does. Although my big Goldmund amps are four years old and are not the latest + models vs. the latest Telos 280, which is the latest Goldmund amp.
