Jeans rant

Have you noticed and its been this way for awhile, that waste sizes in jeans can't be trusted. I typically wear a size 34 in the waste. Now when I buy 34 it fits like 36 in the waste. You say just buy 32, if I do that then it's too snug in the legs.

I have two theories. First the waste is being made larger to accommodate our larger society and to make men buyers feel better about themselves or it's to accommodate the trend to wear sagging jeans.

So I found a brand that sells 33 which fits my legs and I have to wear a belt. Is the majority of men now large waste pencil legged individuals? :)
 
Some of it seems to me to be the elasticity common in today’s fabrics, even jeans, causing way different fit than before.

I have been losing weight since retiring, and picking pants is strange now.

I’m sure you mean “waist”
 
My nut job sister in law told me it's anti-inclusive to have mens and women's jeans separated in a store - that they all should be unisex and in one section so we don't need to "choose" if we want male or female jeans.

I tried to explain the basics of biology and how are bodies are shaped different and have different....um....body parts but she was having none of it.
 
Like shoes, pants can't be trusted anymore. Too much 'off shore' inconsistency in manufacturing IMO
 
When I go shopping for jeans, I try on a few pair of the same size because the sizing is all over the place. A pair of jeans of the same size can fit too tight and another pair can be too loose or the leg sizes are way different. Eddie Bauer Jeans are a little bit better with this than Levi's or Lee's.

Right, when I try my size everything fits but the waste is larger than it should be for the size, like maternity pants, LOL

When I was younger I didn't mind tighter jeans, I got used to wearing dress pants throughout my work career and now I want my jeans to fit comfortable, but fit.

I haven't tried Eddie Bower. I think what I've been buying was Nautika. They have the odd sizes like 33.
