that there's no chatter here in CJ town.

So, it's time to change all that, at least a little bit.

Love that GAT!!! How does it play with the Parasounds? I would imagine it's the best of both worlds, tube and s.s., the solid state grip on those 20.7's with the air and delicacy of the GAT pre. I'm curious about the custom server but I'm thinking about starting a thread for something along those lines.

Thanks for sharing.

I fell into what some might call a bad habit years ago, driving Apogee Duettas with a big Krell, various tube front preamps.
Way back, it might have made more sense than it does today, but, old-dog, new tricks and all.

One of these days I plan to replace the JC-1s, in the mean-time all is fine with the GAT driving the JC-1s, and the JC-1s don't mind low Z speakers at all. :D

Holy cr@p,

I had Apogee Duettas and used a Counterpoint SA-220 with 3.1 preamp. What a great system back then. I knew there was something I liked about you Ray, your taste. Awesome!

Ha, that's cool Joe, Those were some amazing speakers, and Counterpoint was great gear also.

.. 'great minds!

Although most people will prefer the GAT on sound quality, my heart stays with the ART series 3. The dual mono feature, with two power cables and ten 6922 tubes can sometimes be a problem, but for me the ART will always be the jewel of the crown of the preamplifiers. Its design was also unique - very elegant and innovative.

Hi Microstrip...great to see you here...just joined thanks to Wizard. I know your views on ART 3 pre v GAT. I love my CJ GAT but have never heard the ART 3. Honestly I do not intend to either, as I am happy. But I will say whenever CJ have really put their back into something to make it Reference level, they have usually made something that stands the test of time. the Premier 8s, 350SA, ART3, Premier 1, PFR1, MV60, GAT...all great products imho. And as Turntable can confirm (not sure of his moniker here?)...Premier 8s with the new CJ Teflon capacitors is a mighty amp competitive with many of today's latest, greatest amps. I think he alternates with D'Agostino amp so that should say something.

+1 on seeing Microstrip here. Thank you. Shane is XV-1.
