Is Pono All It's Cracked Up To Be?

By headfi audio this is a heap bill s product. There are Many products that completely out oerform this product. The products only adavatage is NEIL. Pure and simple .
if it were not for him the product would be anon stater. It doesn't not even play DSd period
again demaning in the hi end protible audio. And IRS memory is so sub par it's ridiculas .
Lastly the product is squared off at eve apple type yea man groupies . No real hienhi user will buy one other to see what's irs about. I own many real hi end daps and dacs. Froma few vendors . Such chord , hiding , iBasso , ak . Mad so on my three year old hibino outperforms this and has much more memory. It's a bad joke. Now given most here do not do protible audio as I do it's just a product that you may think demands attention it does not.

Would be interesting to survey the serious vs. casual Pono user to see if they care about the blue light authenticity.

Man, digital music done right (even at this lower price point) sure seems like a lot of work.
 
I haven't bought any files yet from the Pono site, but probably will someday. At this point, I don't think it is very well organized. Anyway, one thing I saw that I do like, is with many albums you can just buy individual songs, versus having to buy the entire album at HDTracks. Of course, for some reason, you have to buy the entire Neil Young album on Pono. :)

That would be pure, sickening,gross torture for me.....I truly hate with a deep rooted passion that mans music in every possible way. When I hear the guys voice-I want to vomit.

Neil is Canadian. Personally, I like a lot of his music, especially when he rocks. I have to find a double CD of his I bought in the 90s where an entire CD is just distortion, feedback, and some wailing. It's different, and pretty good.
