It must be true since it is on the Internet, and every few years somebody quotes it as a source to validate their position.

Wow, I guess that is the last and most definitive word on all things audio. Let's shutdown the website and crank up the Bose radio!

What a waste of space. And the world is flat. We never landed on the moon. Big foot is real. Elvis is still alive. Whatever. If the author insists that everything he hears must be measured to prove its better than he assumes our measurement tools and technology have evolved to the point where everything our ears can hear and our brain can process can be measured.

He can buy lamp cord or a clock radio with a CD player and save a lot of money.

Once again, I believe that not everything our ears can hear and our brains can process can be measured. Maybe that day will come, but until then, we don't know, what we don't know.

....did anyone note that the waste of space is almost 14 years old? Where's the author now?

One of the things that make this hobby so much fun are the fake proclamations of the self-appointed golden ears. Half the fun of participating in these forums is being entertained by their various declarations about the improvement in sound quality after every purchase they make but which typically do not exist. I do wish there was more dialogue about sound quality based on sound engineering and science.

It is rather interesting that everything always sounds better after being broken in. When was the last time you heard anyone say that they liked the sound of something better when it was new vs X number of hours of break in? I'm not saying that breaking in components is all hogwash though.

That article (Fall 2000 - The Audio Critic) is almost fourteen years old; the high end audio world has evolved since then.

* I did not notice the writer's name. ...Perhaps it's better that way? :)

EDIT: On the top left corner it says: By Peter Aczel, Editor

A serious fool? :D

Pretty much a foolish person. I couldnt even finish the article. Even my 10 year old can hear differences the author denounces. Notveven worth the ink used to print it.
