Is Audioshark the most civil audio forum out there?

I agree with Mark. Thank you Mark. Mike and others - keep your other forum garbage at the other forums. We have no interest in your dirty laundry.

I'm carefully monitoring those who have left a wake of destruction on other forums. You will NOT do that here.

Oh wow...if that includes everyone from the AA exodus that's ALOT of monitoring!

I guess it's just a coincidence that trouble follows you around.

Never a coincidence, some people simply dislike Mike/Mivera and are unable to let go, look at this thread for example, a perfectly valid sentiment which I completely share is expressed by Mike and some individuals have to turn a nice thing about the Shark into something not so nice about Mike...and of course it will be Mike´s fault for daring to start a thread that honours and thanks this place.

I signed up at WBF before I did here and as a newcomer, I was sad to see the treatment Mike received, he provided a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm and even after being given his own section in the forum his detractors still felt the need to go there and have at him instead of ignoring him, Mike always reacted in a polite manner despite being insulted. The air here is much easier to breathe than at WBF which is the reason I signed up, a.wayne you throw your sarcasm at Mike at every post he makes "hyperbole Mike" as you like to call him has yet to do the same to you, I look at your forum interactions with Mike and there´s a pattern of dislike which leads me to my next point.

Mike is how he is, if you don´t like him simply do like The Beatles and let it be, less animosity and more indifference is the way to go, I´m all for respectful disagreement but when you delve into the past and things get personal they tend to get ugly too. I´m sorry I had to write this and don´t wish to antagonize a.wayne or any other Sharks by the way.

Narayan - thank you for your thoughts. I think what gets people's backs up is the insinuation that Class D is some magic panacea that beats all other amps, the constant attacks on analog, tubes and the like. What Mike needs to realize is that the Shark is filled with a lot of guys who have "been there, done that" and have an enormous wealth of experience. I'm sure many here have had their fill of Class D.

I've personally owned two (technically three) Class D amps and I've even had a good listening session with the latest kid on the block - Nord. Let's just say, I will keep my opinions to myself as I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings or at least until I get them in my system, but Wayne's post earlier today nailed my initial impressions.

As for Mike's OP, I am glad he feels that way about AS and I hope we keep things that way. There is just a little concern for what many of us have witnessed on other forums and who's seemingly always in the middle of it.

I have still yet to get any handle on Mike's gear history, demo experiences or even his system (DIY or otherwise) or any other kind of real life experiences (has he ever owned Maggies? A turntable? A tube amp?).

I think the constant pokes about tubes, vinyl, R2R and the like is a constant jab in the ribs to many. Stick to the latest whiz bang chip or class D amp and we will all follow with curiosity, even if we ultimately retreat back to our tube amps and turntables.

The problem with being there and done that is it doesn't give you experience with what you haven't tried yet. I have no problem with tubes and analog, all I have been trying to get across is equal or better sound is possible with modern technology.

As far as the Nords go, if you shared the same enthusiasm as everyone else does, what would that say about all of the sub 10k amps you sell?

Mike - there is noting to be enthusiastic about from what I heard. But I'll keep an open mind and do further listening. It sounds like a $1600 amp - but in that same price, I prefer the JOB 225 - by a lot.

Funny the Job wasn't used in the Sound Galleries DSD 512 fest in Munich.

And that's why you piss people off. Keep it up.

Who gives a crap that it was or wasn't used at Munich? I don't even know where you got this best of show for Nord. Was it TAS? Stereophile or "I don't give a crap" magazine? Everyone I talked to who was there never even mentioned anything about any Class D.

Probably because most didn't realize that the sound that was so good was coming from class D :)

First, class D amplification is not new technology.

Second, aside from power efficiency and size there isn't any sonic advantage over class A and AB amplification; on the contrary, it is very difficult to make a good sounding class D amp that matches the sound quality of good class A/AB amps.

It was pretty easy for Taiko at the DSD 512 fest. It got voted both best at show, or 2nd best by many.

And class D may not be new technology, but good class D is :)

and perhaps yours is a case of "stockholm syndrome"?

Yes, it's easy to put Bruno's NC modules and PSUs in a nice case.

And why is good class D (an oxymoron?) new?:)

Passive aggressive much..?

Well you did, why would you call me out, i have no beef with Mike or been disrespectful to him, I'm questioning his foundation in the NC500 thread,. yet you claim you are for respectful disagreement and then this ...

Yeah ...

Now it's a question of integrity, Projecting ...?

This is exactly the smartass passive/aggressive responses that typifies what Mike is really about. And why he keeps getting tossed off of forums. He wears out his welcome faster than a Vegetarian at at a steakhouse.

He hates all things analog and all amps that aren't Class D. He uses other people's forums to promote himself and whatever the hell vaporware he is pushing on any given day. One wonders why he doesn't start his own forum and see if he can develop his own following on his own nickel.

That isn't true. I'm working on projects guys like you will be raving about one day. So I'm not sure why anyone would be upset about that.

Mike. I think he has a Class A amp with tube plus Analog in his system [emoji12]
