Interesting interview with Kronos Designer Louis Desjardins

Good read Mike.
One typo in the piece. Louis' friend that is referred to is Rene Laflamme, of Fidelio recordings, (not Lafleme). Both Louis and Rene are very valuable assets to the Canadian audiophile community.

Agreed. I spoke with Louis yesterday. He's traveling throughout the east. I think he was in Malaysia. He told me one of his dealers there sold three Kronos Pro's all to guys who already had AF1's. [emoji6]

I think Kronos is finally getting the recognition it deserves. Louis has definitely been a busy man. Love my Sparta!

The Kronos definitely shows there're more than one way "to skin a cat". While I disagree with some of his opinions, there's no question his table is a good one.

I get asked all the time "what matters most, the table, the arm or the cartridge?" Well, it ALL matters! Throw in the cables, phonostage and more too.

But to prove to myself what a difference the table/arm makes, I mounted my Ortofon Cadenza Bronze on my Kronos. To say I was SHOCKED at how good it sounded, would be an understatement. I've heard this excellent, but modestly priced cart on my Classic 3 (a great table in its own right), but the Kronos took it to a whole new level.

I've been a huge fan of Kronos since I first heard it several years ago. Louis was just starting out. He had no reviews, no pedigree, no history to go on. But what he had was a great idea and a great sounding table.

I remember reporting how impressed I was on another forum and the naysayers came from all corners. They called it a "gimmick", said it wouldn't last against the big boys like SME and Basis. They demanded measurements. LOL. Well, a little time, a multitude of reviews and actual listening has proven the Kronos to be a world class turntable, with a unique "analog tape like", big full rich sound.

I would love to upgrade to the Kronos Pro one day, but I'm so happy with my Sparta that the desire to go for the big Daddy Kronos is quite low. I know the Pro is better, but the Sparta is so damn good.

Mike - I've been touting the virtues of the Ortofon Cadenza Bronze for quite some time now. I realize that it's built to a price point within the Ortofon line, but as you have experienced it is capable of performance way beyond its cost. I've heard cartridges that are many times more expensive, but in my Origin Live Enterprise-C arm on the Nottingham Dais table the sonics are spectacular and truly of a reference caliber. In addition unlike many other 'top-flight' designs, when properly aligned it tracks even the most demanding grooves effortlessly along with an eerily silent background. It's clearly a reference quality standout value in today's world of continually escalating cartridge prices.
