The author is taking a beating over on WBF. This model will never apply to large expensive products. Cheap audio doodads will work for his model like $100 DACs that fit in your pocket and if the 'company' goes out of business and takes your money with them you won't shed too many tears in your beer.
that is very interesting, mep is right that will never work with more expensive items. the second part of the article was very interesting and you can see more and more companies going (or trying to go) internet direct sales. cutting out the middle man to give the consumer a better deal. what happens in the future will be very interesting for sure. i find it incredibly important to go hear gear with a knowledgable dealer, but with less dealers every year, it gets harder and harder to go find the stuff you want to hear. luckily i live by nyc and can go find just about anything i set out to find. but it is already tough and i can imaging those who dont have that luxury.
