integrated or separates

Considering matching the Sim Audio 611 integrated with my Dynaudio Contour 60 but wonder if it will be enough power

I'm leaning new integrated, sometimes an integrated can bring good value and performance in one box, and, avoiding the hassle of buying used would be in my plus column. The 60's, new Contour in general, are said to be easier to drive than those of the past.

A good integrated can save you a ton of money since you eliminate the need for two amp power cords, two power conditioners for the amps, and two pair of ICs from the preamp to the amps. That is easily another $10K you can add to the budget for the integrated.

I do have good separates and recently bought the Pass Labs INT-60 for the summerhouse. Now I am happily using the Pass in the main system for several weeks already before it goes off to the island - just because it is so nice. Will drive your Dyns with ease, remember Watts do not equal Watts.

My .02 or less, if you are just building up your system and need to invest into several parts of your system within a short period of time, you are better off with a good integrated. Besides, the nice thing about the INT-60 is, should you decide to add a pre at some point, it will allow to plug in your pre into the Pass and just use the power section.

Hello,

I also agree that this is like most things in this hobby come down to some personal preference. The high end integrated amp today like the INT-60 area really amazing. Going this route also saves you money on interconnects and a power cable as mentioned above. However, you might need the extra power and or prefer the flexibility that separates can provide.

Btw, I thought the INT-60 you can add an external amp and use it as a pre amp? I also have the INT-60. It is a fantastic unit but, I'm looking for something different. I still have my mind open to other integrated units but, leaning to going to separates now as this is my main unit.
