I'm just starting to get into jazz. I bought this SACD, frankly, because I'm so impressed with Challenge Records' classical recordings, so I thought I'd give this disc a try--wow! The sound is amazingly clear and lifelike. They recorded it in a church, so it has some nice natural ambience. I actually like the music, too! :D

Hmmm...;) It's interesting that they put the recording company's name on the cover rather than the label name.

Michael Moore proves that he is one of the most melodic and emotional reed players of his generation.you can listen to the whole album for free at the Sound Liaison website.
and staying on the subject;one of the other Sound Liaison Albums;''Thousand Shades of Blue''from Carmen Gomes Inc,has gotten a great review from Rad Bennett in SoundStage!
this intimate effort is one of the best and best-sounding jazz vocal albums to come along in many a day
and also mentioning the other Sound Liaison(Paul Berner Band) albums he says:
.... have taken this approach with Sound Liaison, producing recordings available only in 24-bit/96kHz downloads that mirror the master recording. And man, are they ever sweet. I've seldom heard recordings that were so successful in both performance and sound aspects.
Well any how, great sounding audiophile recordings from a small company well worth supporting.

Imagine this, Count Basie, Duke Ellington and their respective bands in the same studio recording together in a session designed for a 30 piece band. I believe the two bands each had their own channel - interesting separation. A truly amazing piece of jazz artistry and recording triumph! This was not a competition between two bands but everybody had their best foot forward when recorded in 1961. A Masterpiece!

Just listened to "Instrumentals", by Nels Cline. It contains the song, "Ghost Of The Piñata", of which I am currently fascinated.

Note: My iPad added the character above the "n" in the word Piñata. It is not that way on the album.
