If You Owned Less Than 100 LPs, Would You Drop Over a $100K on a Turntable Set-up?

Man, some of you guys are squeaky like fat witchedy grubs in rotten timbers. I don't even know the guy, but if I copped that sort of personal attack, I would withdraw from forum sharing life and tell you to go and f... Yourselves.

Now I understand why Jap can be an offensive word. Jap you should change your name or disappear.

Kudos to the Steve at WBF (which I am not a member of BTW) for his fine choice in analogue equipment and setup. Buy more vinyl. Buy more tape. for opening his home and his life to those that are interested in his choices.

Steve,

You need to learn how to read.

My username is "jap" with a small j.

I'm not going to change it or disappear.

I don't why jap was banned. They have more trolls than ever existed in Scandinavian folklore and other people they have given the boot to have been invited back to continue to run the forum in the ground. Can you imagine starting an audio forum where you wanted peace and tranquility to exist and then inviting Ethan Winer to come aboard as an "industry expert?" jap was mild in comparison.

Maybe it had something to do with him posting that MadFloyd wears a hearing aid, suffers from Tinnitus.

This thread is going to be closing soon IMO

You sure are right Garth. It's a beautiful system and there's no need. He can buy pink speakers if he wants - it's HIS money.

Oh, by the way, I remember spending a few thousand in 1979/1980 (a lot of money back then) on my first CD player - the first Sony - and I had, oh, 3 CD's!

In the old days you could not start a fight in a empty room then we got the internet.

I am not a member over at WBF but I did read that thread. Suffice it to say I made a mental note about our friend jap after that comment that I don't plan to forget anytime soon. Ian is a far more patient man than I.

Well said Paul. I have no idea about some thread at another site and I don't care. What I know is that Ian is a friend of mine and he's been an amazing sounding board for me on some of my system ideas. He's been a guest in my home. His wife is an absolute darling of a person as well. In other words, mess with him and you mess with me! [emoji109]🏻

As far as building a vinyl set-up from scratch after being away for 30 years, SW clearly isn't alone in that pursuit. I have a feeling many have spent a lot bigger piece of their nest egg on new vinyl rigs than he has. Price probably isn't something we should make judgements about from person-to-person.

Mike.......I suffer from CRS (can't remember $h!t) and I am beginning to think you do as well. There were no CD players in 1979 or 1980. Sony and Philips did not launch CD players until March 1983, although Sony did release the CDP-101 in Japan on October 1, 1982.

Yep, you're definitely showing signs of CRS.

Lot of smoke in the room back then; couldn't read the calendar.:P

too funny, I was going to let that one slide because its Mike. the date has some relevance tho, maybe '79/'80 was when he copped his first feel:heart:

Oh man, it seemed liked a million years ago. It was the first Sony CD player CDP-100 or 101 or something like that and "SAM The Record Man" only had 10 CD's for sale in total. All classical. I guess it was 1983. Geez. I do suffer from CRS.

Interestingly, I had one of those Sony's in 1984. But I preferred my Linn LP12 TT.
