If you had to choose only ONE pair of speakers for rest of your life ...

That is true for many things in life. However, for me right now, "Ignorance is bliss." While I do know the S7 will kick the S5's butt, I can listen to this system the rest of my life with little, or no, regret. Which is good since it has taken a chunk out of my retirement funds. :)

I'm right there with you, Bud!

Allen, those Magico are so yesterday already, you'll never make gearslutzareus at this rate. :D :D :D

Salon 2's are not going anywhere for the foreseeable future. I just keep asking myself, where would I go? I don't have an answer for that.

Don't play around. You made a mistake once don't do twice. I'm in the same situation. :)

I can not imagine ever selling my Pass Labs Rushmores. They are 4 way "active" with built in electronic crossovers. So I guess I will not be in the market for Amps, crossovers, or speaker cables either. Plus, at 275 pounds each, I am getting way too old to have to move them..

lol

I would clone Neko Case. Set the real one and the cloned one eight feet apart, and sit back and melt into nirvana as they sang my favorite songs.

I was getting ready to pull the trigger on a pair of 1028Be when I found a pair of salon v1 for the same cost. As I was getting the 240lb monsters into the basement I pretty much decided then and there I wouldn't be replacing them any time soon.

I am very firm about my current choices - until the next best thing comes up...

From what's available today I'd go with the Kii Three. In fact I did.

They feel at home on a desk in a small study, as well as stand mounted in a largish living room. They're fairly immune to placement constraints. No regrets about not having a sub: they go right down to 20Hz, with extremely linear frequency and phase response. Great detail, dynamics, imaging.

Most know by now, if I could buy one last pair and afford anything, it would be Vandersteen 7 mk 2 in a custom finish, along with his matching 9 subs and his amp. That set has got to be as good as anything on the market right now at any price point for my ears (as well as many others, lol). Just killer.

I say that after the Munich showroom....but, in waiting, I have been impressived by Revel Ultima ( version 1 ) Studio and JBL Everest D66000, Tannoy Kingdom Royal....

I just purchased a pair of spendor sp200s and i have to say, they do just about everything. From unbelievable midrange and voice to precision bass and deep soundstage. Can see myself happy for many years
