If you had to choose only ONE pair of speakers for rest of your life ...

That's a great question.

I'm about to find out. The winner of the Salon 2/ Raidho D3 shootout will be that speaker. the one I take into retirement.

Considering all the speakers that have gone through my listening room, I've yet to have one that I wanted to hold onto for life. If I had to choose one pair it just might be the Raidho D3s. I've heard Raidhos a number of times and they are amazing.

What would that be ? Think twice ;)

Are we to take practical considerations into account? Such as size & shape of any likely listening room? How about local availability? And the big one, financial resources -- maybe stretched a just little beyond our current situation? So for me your magnificent Tannoys would be out of the question on multiple counts.

I'm so please with my current Magneplanar MG 1.6QR's that I haven't given speakers much though of late, instead focusing on other components. So a no-brainer upgrade would be Magneplanar MG 3.7's, (but maybe too big a financial stretch, alas).

Other than these, I can see some advantage in my listening room to a less space-consuming, monopole design. I especially value transparency, air, and precise imaging. Realistically I'd need to keep the cost around $3500 for a full-range sound. Still, there are some options checking out the good ol' Stereophile Recommended Components, maybe Golden Ear Trition 2's, or else Focal Chorus 826W, KEF Q900, or Linn Majik 140.

I haven't heard a ton of gear in my life but the best speakers that I've ever heard are the Raidho D3's. That being said, if I had to choose one pair of speakers it would be the Sound Kaos Wave 40's. The Raidho's played music, the Wave's were music...

Bunch of liars !!!!!

You will never end with just
one pair. That question is
not computable with us
Hahahahaha

I have never heard most of the ones listed so far but liked the Dynaudio Consequence with the Arbitur electronics when I heard them. I like most all Dyns.
Maybe a much more updated pair of von Schwiekerts to replace his first model that I have as Clearfield.

I will need to drastically downsize in the coming years and will need to find smaller speakers. I really like the way the JAS Orior looks and sounds for a small stand mount speaker under $5K.

You're right Nelson….Don't answer...…It's a trick question….An ex girlfriend tried that on me once…."If you had to choose only ONE pair of ….."

I have listened to many speakers and I find myself not wanting another pair as I'm extremely satisfied with my pair of Martin Logan Summit X speakers. So they would be the ones for me.

If I had the right sized room for them, McIntosh XR290s, as much for sentimental reasons as for the sound quality, which still sticks with me to this day!
