I want opinions

Probably stand mount.... but something like the KEF Ref 3 would also work (smaller floor standing). I did listen to these; EJ owns a pair which he may sell at some point....
A friend of mine got a steal on some LNIB Reference 3's; paid $7,500, so bargains do abound.

Modwright's KWA-150 SE is a good value option for a power amp. It is solid state, but sounds tube-like and on the warm side. It has excellent resolution and inner details, hence it is very enjoyable listening at low volume levels as well as high. Build quality is excellent. The amp has a switch for 'bridged mono' mode if you ever add a second amp, and re-sale value is solid with modwright gear. Msrp is circa $9k, but you can pick up mint 2nd hand examples up for around $5500. It is an underrated amp imho.

Here's the Modwright 100SE from a reputable Oregon retailer, 9/10 condition, for $2,450: https://echohifi.com/details/10086/Modwright_KWA-100SE

Thanks for all of the input guys. Much appreciated. Just trying to get my plan together but have to wait for everything to settle in before making a move. Just some weird times. with company being sold and working through transition (and promise of severance etc.). Trying to get new position in place. If it all works out a little reward will be in order :)...

Good luck with your future career and plans Randy. I know a little of what you're facing myself. And yes, be sure and reward yourself with a shiny new piece or two of audio gear for your rig :audiophile:. Please post an update when you pull the trigger on your new toy!

There are lots of great amps and deals out there for your budget. For example there's a used Vitus RS-100 (class A first few watts I believe) for $4K on the gon and you can find used/demo Pass gear on other sites. Lots of great options for tubes also, Mcintosh MC75, MC275 or Audio Research 75/100/150's. Do as much research as you can while you're waiting things out. Especially since your demo options are limited.

Just curious, what about selling all your amps and preamp and getting a kick ass integrated? Gryphon Atilla or Diablo 120 rumor has it that there's a new dealer in town that we all know :hmmm:

yes , those arc75 certainly get some glowing words and no fans to worry about !!

the modwright mentioned is also a good option.

as you seem to like arc i would be tempted to try those k88 valves in yours before changing

Again, appreciate all the input... thank you everyone. I am thinking about trying the KT88.... also considering a previously loved Ref 75...

+ 1 on the Ref 75. Paired with a pre-loved Ref 5 SE, that would be a really nice combo .

Been listening to the VT-50 the past couple days. Very nice sounding amp with the STP-SE. I just hooked the First Watt back up... dang that is one fantastic sounding amp! So much incredible detail...

Thank you sir. It is such a pain when company gets sold or goes through a merger. Unfortunately I have been through it far too many times...

I decided to get some Golden Lions KT-88 to try in the VT-50. Even if I end up going with a new tube amp these tubes will work!

Thanks Keith. I have to see how things unfold in the coming months. If I can afford it the SE is worth considering for sure!

Don't do it. Perpetual equipment rolling will eventually drive you nuts.

Wait, never mind...
