:hi:Guys
After more years than I want to admit, I have finally quit smoking. It's been nearly a month since I last smoked a cig(Sept 24). I'm proud in the fact that I've done it with no pills, patches, or e-cigs. What I did was to tape a sign on my cupboard door which is easily viewable from my couch that says: You Can Do It!!!!!!!!

If anyone would like to throw some words of encouragement my way, they will be greatly appreciated.

OMG! Bob I am so happy for you. You will feel better everyday. It's tough, I'm still try to quit Twinkies. Ha! Everyday is a struggle. We want you around for a long time!

Congrats!!

I quit some years back and couldn't imagine going back. I bet you feel great!

Way to go

Keep it up Bob. That's awesome! I didn't smoke for very long but when my wife and I found out we were going to be parents I threw mine in the garbage. That was 22 years ago!!!
I wish I could tell you that it gets easier but it took me a few years to get rid of the cravings. Hang in there, you can do it and always remember how much good it's doing you!!! :)

Hey Bob. Hang in there mate, it's worth it. I gave up February 18th, 2004 at 10:10 p.m. That was the last time I had a cig & I absolutely loved smoking. It took me 5 go's to give it the flick but I will never smoke again. If it gets too hard, don't be afraid to put a patch on. By the way, congratulations!!!!!

Congrats Bob !!!!! I was a smoker for 25 years . I went the vapor route ,
It's been near a year now . I actually asked a friend who was smoking the other day to have a drag of his cig and it was the worst thing I ever tasted.
Congrats and keep at it!!!

Hey Bob
You deserve it. It took me ten years to quit, stops and starts, frustration. You are over the worst part now. Most of the nicotine has left your body.Your skin should be coming back now with color and taste buds too. Don't worry about weight gain you can deal with that later. When I finally quit I was up to large king size package in 5 hours commonly had two going at once. You don't want to back there. If start again you will smoke more than before you quit.
No doubt you can do it. Don't be tempted no matter what.

Barry and everyone:
Thank you for your words of encouragement. I do believe I'm over the worst part as I don't even feel the slightest craving to have a cig.

I have a Dr's appointment next month(Nov 4) and if I make it til then(I know I will) then it'll be all down hill from then on.

Bob, I can only speak from my own personal experience.

I have been smoking all my life, since about 12 (my grand-dad worked all his life at Imperial Tobacco in the town where I was living in when I was in Quebec), and later on he was bringing us cigars to me and my brother Claude.
Then at age 16 I worked in a tobacco factory (making cigarettes), and I even picked tobacco (the leaves) in the field, by hand (not sitting on a machine). ...Hard work, and very dirty (sticky to your skin and unwashable).

Anyway, three years ago I was smoking between one and two packs a day (33 cigarettes average a day),
But for the last two and a half years I'm down to between 3 and 6 on average per day. ...And never inside my mansion.
And if I am with non-smokers I can go without smoking as long as I hang with them, forever if I have to.

Yes, I smoke few still, but I have 100% total control and can quit anytime. And not just with cigarettes, but with everything and anything.
And I am totally honest when I say this.

If you have an incentive to quit totally smoking, it's good enough and you can do it, you are doing it, and you can keep doing it for the rest of your life (hopefully she'll last longer too). :)

Bob...a big congrats! Awesome will power. Keep up the great work and whenever you need another round of encouragement, let us know. You have done one of the best things for your health and you should be very proud!
