...but everyone was 'new' once, right?

My name is Pete, and I'm an addict...

Hi Pete,

Welcome! Where are you from? Tell us about your system.

Welcome Pete,

You've come a long way already you've realized denial is not river in Egypt . I'm afflicted as well.

True, but I have no interest in being cured, only in becoming rich enough to build a 'real' system ;)

Right now my 'audio' and HT systems are one and the same. Oppo 103 into Yamaha RXA3010 AVR, which powers PSB synchrony surrounds and center, with an Odyssey Stratos driving my old Infinity Kappa 7 mains. Hsu ULS15 sub. The Odyssey was an upgrade from an old Yamaha amp, and made the Kappa's sound like I never knew they could!!

I'm taking my sweet time listening to speakers, learning what I like, learning to listen, and trying to balance that will what will fit in the 12X19X8 room. From when I was in the business, 25 years ago, the trend has moved to slender towers, which does help me, combined with an understanding/enabling wife, so I'm limited by how far I can move them into the room more than anything else. I've listened to PSB Imagine T2's, Synchrony1's, B&W CM10's, 804D, 803D, Focal 1028Be, some Paradigm Studio's, and probably one or two others I'm forgetting. My room is 'hard' and 'live', and the Kappa's are too bright/fatiguing.

I'm not opposed to buying without hearing, provided I have a return option, but obviously I'd prefer to audition prior to buying, which is hard given that there are SO MANY choices, philosophies, ideas and designs. I like what I've read about Aerial 7T's as well...

Anyway, I'll be reading/learning, without probably much to 'offer', except irreverence and smart comments ;)

The Stratos is sometimes not given the props it deserves for a $1k amp. I also have the model with the cap upgrade and it can drive my Dynaudios well (82s and 42s). Right now I am driving an older pair of JM Labs Tantal 509s and I cannot believe how good they sound. Also as I get older and more deaf, I like these JMs more and more because the tweeter no longer irritates me.
