How Many of You Are Totally Satisfied Right Now?

While I haven't heard my two channel system in two months now due to home remodeling, I was very, very happy with it for some time. I guess the Lumin was the last thing I added, and that must be pushing a year now.

However, I have found that just listening to my HT/stereo system during the last two months that I am also enjoying the music (using the Lumin), and not being critical at all. Since the HT system is mostly two channel hand-me-downs, it isn't too shabby, but no where near as nice.

To be honest, I have sat there wondering if I should sell the two channel, and just be happy with the HT system. I guess I will wait to see how I feel after I get the two channel up and running in the 'new' house.

What are you using now Barry and where were you with cartridges before ....

Using the Etna on a Triplanar VII with a VPI HW-19 MkIII (modified with Applied Fidelity bearing assembly & SAMA), Phoenix Engineering MC & Roadrunner, and Pass Labs Xono (extremely modded). The TT is clearly the limiting factor most notably in the treble range - it's a bit dark sounding.

I previously used a new old stock, mid 90's Audio Technica ART-1 that listed for $1.3K and it really was no competition with the Etna. I had auditioned the Ortofon A95 and Myajima Labs Madake in another system, but was not compelled to buy either one though they both sounded fine.

I'm quite happy with my system as well. I know I could upgrade the front by getting a nice analog front end which I have honestly debated multiple times over the last year - almost pulled the trigger earlier this year.

I am extremely happy/satisfied with my system now, especially since getting my JBL's.

But I will not rule out another amp or two.

Ha!

I mean it this time.

You guys are funny. As Mike says, I am the amp man. Old habits die hard.

How long is a piece of string? Whilst I am very happy with what is essentially a McIntosh system, there are probably things I could do better.

Given it's versatile implementation, there are aspects of the system that I need to take the time out to chill out and enjoy more.

And when it comes to real musical enjoyment, McIntosh undoubtedly deliver. So those contemplating McIntosh for 2ch, it is a low risk proposition.

I'll probably never be totally satisfied, because the HiFi pinnacle is always unobtainable for one reason or another. I guess one measure of satisfaction is diminishing spend over time (or a reduction in this type of luxury lifestyle spend over time.)

So, yes very happy with where I am at.

Mark,

Good for you.

While you're in this state of satisfaction, buy lots of music and enjoy the ride.

If that doesn't last, I'm sure Joe will shortly have some equipment that he can sell you.

I am in a great place with my system. I have only been back as an audiophile for a year and have progressed my system very rapidly. I know I have been on the gear swap carousel but the journey has been a blast.

Didn't we hear that after you got your Strad's??

Most likely, AND I still have them. Damn, life is good. Two (or 4 actually) awesome speakers that balance each other soooooooo well. A veritable aural orgy on a nightly basis. I got it good and feel blessed to have such choices.

I took a chance with the JBL's, but had a solid feeling from all my research that I'd love them. I was right this time and wrong with the TAD CR-1's. I ignored the red flags with the TAD's, sadly. The speaker gods are smiling on me now.

Good Stuff,
I may get a chance to hear a pr this weekend , excited as i have not heard a similar type JBL/Altec 2 way horns since the late 70's.

I'd love to read your take on them. I know several members who have them and love them too.

I am very happy where I am right now with my system. Yes, I always want to improve, but dam, it just sounds awesome... Eventually I want to get some KEF Reference speakers, but as it is now I am very happy with the sound.
