I do have a topic suggestion for the HiFi 5-why is there such emotion attached to this hobby?
We see this in the vitriolic arguments over vinyl vs digital, tubes vs solid state, objectivists vs. subjectivists, etc. Endless, often nasty arguments incapable of resolution, not carried on at a gentlemanly level. And its worse, much worse, when it comes to money. A huge segment of the hobby happily insults anyone who spends more money than they do-they are audiophools, egotists, etc. Almost as bad on the other side-lots of condescending, looking down noses, measuring ones credibility by how much money they spend.
The esteemed panel could explore why its so emotional, why there is such division among "audiophiles" when it is such a small hobby that 99% of the population, if they've thought about it at all, find it to be very odd. Are there negative consequences to the division? How do we do better?
Might be an interesting topic and a change of pace.
