HIFi Five youtube channel

I enjoyed the show Wednesday, although Jay's excitable rant about being asked for a discount was a bit scary. One more f-bomb and he would have been right. I hope his audio apartment isn't named The Bates Motel.:)
Well the other forum can't handle the show and is doing everything in their power to piss on it. Audio retailing is not all fun and games for sure. Im happy you liked it hope you keep watching I have a few rants coming down the pike

It's ok....now that they are behind a login to help minimize the negative SEO related to them, their self-induced demise has sped up. I know of multiple others who are going to be ending their relationship with that forum.

It won't affect the same 25 people who live on that forum and drive most of the traffic (and group-think), but the rest of the audio world will move on from them as they have from the has-been-mags. Advertising on WBF will be about as beneficial as an ad in print media.

Here's a question - where will their forum shills slither to next once WBF crumbles? They've been outed so the whole world knows who they are and what they do.

2026 is shaping up to be a seismic year for audio. Time to make it great again. And it's funny, the people who say they prefer print mags to YouTubers like Jay are the ones most desperately in need of sales help.

Yes shows are threatening the old ways and those who are fighting hard to remain relevant. The world is and has changed and it will continue to do so. IMO magazines and the old media have come full circle and its time for a cataclysmic disruption. 2026 will bring some of this o buckle up and enjoy the ride.
The old boss will not be the same as the new bosses :) a little of respect to Pete Townsend and Roger Daltry please

Trump?

I find the show entertaining, sometimes instructive. There was even a musical selection I liked last time. This week will be interesting. I'm a bit skeptical of your guest, but keep an open mind what is missing the most in the super audiophile set.

I like the other forum, but don't get some of those guys. I'm not in the "super audiophile" club but try to keep up. I think some of them turn listening to music into a science project-or a root canal. I think for most of us, when we audition equipment we form an impression pretty quickly , for good or bad, based on lots of factors, looks, preconceived notions about the brand, price, perceived pride of ownership, sound. I don't think these early impressions change much, but some feel the need to justify that by resorting to endless analysis and audiophile lingo that doesn't have much meaning, but sounds smart. I find that tedious, but each to their own.

the other forum is joke, they like to her themselves talk, jut cause you have money and have a nice system doesn't mean you are an expert, 95% over there think they are but they dont have a clue IMO and its the same 15-25 guys

Danny R is a speaker professional and expert. The show will not be about his products but about speaker design , materials etc. I hope it is informative and entertaining . We are just getting started so we may take some swings and miss but we will continue to try hard

I agree and have said the same thing. FYI i just informed them I am not going to renew and pay them again.
I know people wont like this but most, not all, really only know a little at best. They have limited experience and don't really want to learn. I think this is pervasive in many areas. Its the hunt that people crave not the result IMO.
There is nothing wrong with asking and seeking help, I do it in other things like Golf or cooking but audio has its machismo and bravado , not sure why exactly

agreed, most are pursuit of auditioning gear instead of knowing how to match gear for the best results

Is it just me or is it the same 15 or 20 guys saying the same thing over and over again?

We definitely don’t have the same level of traffic as those guys, but I haven’t put any effort to gain members or increase participation. This forum was started because Joe (who I talk to almost every day - he’s doing well, just not in an audio state of mind with everything going on), Bruce (who’s having some health issues), Mark (who golfs 7 days a week), Jock and a few others to have a place away from the idiot who ran another forum. That’s it. Started long before I became a dealer and I do try to keep my cheerleading to a minimum, although I occasionally get pretty excited about a product or brand I have to share. 😎. I greatly enjoy reading what you all are up to and following your ventures. I have plans to increase membership and participation, but have just been a little busy with other projects.

Speaking of the other forum, years ago when I was discussing how much I enjoyed my tubes and horns (I do miss them), they were all debating on whether the new Wilson was better than the old Wilson and mocking the horn guys.

Funny how times have changed….

I'm new and appreciate the chance to participate. Seems like a great forum. I like the other forum, but I'm a nut about this stuff. I will never understand, however, grown men hurling insults at each other because one likes tubes and one likes transistors, or one buys expensive cables and one doesn't. The need to be right and to be perceived as some sort of super expert is strong in this hobby. Status, of a sort, I suppose.

Your analysis is sadly spot on. It seems today that people hiding behind an avatar feel entitled and embolden to say nasty things to people they have not the cajones to say to their faces. In our everyone is an expert world this has become very common place. I think the first step to getting better at almost anything is being able to admit and accpet that you don't know everything.
Hope you enjoy the ride
