Greetings from Sevenoaks in the S.E. of England.

Not sure what's wanted but here goes:

Long time interest in music and audio, dating back to the 40s when apparently I ruined our old radiogram and some 78s by over-use of turntable and volume control. Then a Dansette record player - which didn't play records so much as skip most of the grooves or plough a new furrow as the disc rotated. On to a new radiogram (stereo! Wow!) courtesy of the bank of Mom and Dad.
First meeting with turntable rumble led to purchase of a Garrard 301 and an SME 3012 Series II arm. Later added Shure MM cartridge, Leak amp and Heathkit speakers - into decent quality sound for the first time.
Over time went up the scale via Pioneer, Naim and Musical Fidelity amps to current Boulder 1110 and 1160 (sorry for error with model numbers). Speakers now Triangle Magellan Cello. Marantz SA10 SACD player contains DAC which takes input from Bluesound Vault 2 running with Roon. Still using Linn LP12/Ittok LVII with Clearaudio Titanium v2 MC cartridge and Boulder 508 pre-pre-amp. Next door is faithful old Garrard and SME deck with Denon DL103 in second system.
Love classics, jazz, female vocalists and classic (1960s/70s) rock. Unlikely to upgrade any more now but so lucky to have a system I love to share with friends over wine and cheese...

Thanks for reading - if you have been!

Good to hear from a fellow Brit - from Portsmouth. Plenty of good people here, although I've only been visiting for a year or so. Welcome. Peter

Thanks, Peter, that's very kind. I tried other forums over time but got fed up with some people's dismissive comments about my gear!

Cheers.

Thank you, Brian. Glad you enjoyed the UK visits; interesting choice of destinations!

Jeff

Thank you! Very kind. I'm already finding it very interesting to see the huge range of gear that members have.
Cheers.

Thank you, Brad! I feel as though I'm getting lots of new pals all at once.

But I have to say: although I thought I now have a half-decent system, I'm beginning to realise just how high the word "high" goes in high end and Hi-fi. Congrats on your fantastic gear. I especially envy you the dedicated listening room which sadly is not an option here. But listening last night to the new Impulse vinyl issue of Gil Evans' Out of the Cool, I was amazed at how much breadth, depth and clarity the engineers captured. I love guitar jazz and the solos by Ray Crawford on La Nevada just sing away well to the left of the speakers as though the guy was playing outside on the patio!

Anyway: thanks again for the warm welcome.

I, along with many here, like when someone talks about music they especially enjoy. I have something new to listen to later today now that it is raining outside and I was going to paint our back porch.
Thanks

Thank you! Really enjoying the welcomes and seeing what equipment senior members have.

I listened to the Gil Evens Out of the Cool it was very enjoyable and will get more play time. Very well recorded and produced.
I liked 80-90% of it. I just have never been able to get into the free form jazz that is all over the place.
Clearly Miles influences on Gil. Not a bad thing just not mine.

I haven't gotten to the Ray Crawford yet. My rainy afternoon of listening got hijacked with another project. Oh well, just the life of retired audiophile. :-)

Thanks, Brad. Sometimes I listen to specific music because I think I should give it a go and see it if it "sticks"! It doesn't always, of course...

Thank you, Sean. I just wish I could hear all these great systems that you and other senior members have put together!
