Hello Mike & greetings to you all from Down-under.

I am an avid audiophile with a commissioned McIntosh rig. I'm always learning from others and where I can, do enjoy passing that knowledge & experience onwards with a bit of fun as I chill-out & listen to what is playing. Vinyl & HT is where I tend to gravitate. I have been working on a CAPs project & have an awesome Studer A810 that is in desperate need of some software.

The constitution appears friendlier & more relaxed here, yet familiar personalities. Is it because the philosophy at AudioShark is genuinely committed to respectfully candid discussion in the true sense & definition of a forum for the benefit of the membership as consumers?

A couple of months ago I contracted the flu & ended up taking a step back from participating online. As a consequence, I resigned my aficionado stripes, so to speak. For the past couple of years I was quite the legendary audio/video customer & had purchased considerable pieces to progress my rig. Like you do...

So, I am not here to shop, nor to be offered kickbacks for comment, nor to be moderated without cause to reflect a commercial or sponsorship agenda. If there is an affiliation with that sort of activity here, I will not want to stay & expend time. I get the impression though, that AudioShark have an absolute mission which if indeed is truthful, would be comforting.

I'm in the IT business but I have no affiliation or commercial interests in the a/v industry therefore have no disclosure to raise. My bias may extend to what I own & what I have experienced. That & everything else is opinion for your interpretation.

Sincerely,

Steve

Welcome Steve! Glad to see you here. You have a wonderful setup with 2301's/C1000T/MCD1100. Very nice!

Steve...your flu symptoms that caused you to relinquish your ties are exactly what prompted Mike to start AS. Welcome :hi:

Thank you all very much for the warm welcome! :bananasplit:

Doug....:D none other than s/n: 8495. You know of course where the upgrade originated from. You see, this number was never destined to cross the pond as I later learned. It ruffled many feathers in the channel, a story that I may never get to know. I actually didn't intend to advertise the serial no when I took those high resolution photographs back then.

BTW Mike, I'm very impressed with the way vBulletin (this site layout) is setup. The best I've seen.

Thanks Steve! I worked hard on it. Hell hath no fury....ahhh....something like that.

Love that #8495 GF! The story is well told around these parts. :)

Steve, all of us here at AS are very good people. We love conversation, but treat each other with respect. I'm very glad you found us !!

Thanks MDP. Understood. Without underlying reasons for discord, it is always healthy from here. From what I have read at AudioShark before joining up, I think you have a good balance which will evidently win out over time.

Hi Steve

Why did you get banned from the other site? One day you are there, next day I can't ask any Vicoustic questions :weird:

You are in good company here with old banned audiophiles

cheers

Shane

Hi Shane,

I wasn't banned. I respectfully resigned. I spent many tens of thousands of USD there. I still have goods in transit. Generally speaking as I write this, they were smooth transactions to the penny! When you tender your membership resignation, you get banned for life & forfeit your dues. Some unwritten forum rule apparently, & is the owner's prerogative when all is said.

I resigned because of moderation reasons including being moderated without notification, having some of my posts edited without notification, told not to post on certain threads as well as not to post about certain topics. Of course the underlying reasons for my opinions being targeted were that of commerciality & sponsorship weight. Some of my opinions may have been incompatible with the forum's marketing machine. As a customer, I was offended & those frustrations began to reflect a little in my posts which is out of character for me. Not my business to argue how he chooses to run his forum, so, I thought it best to remove myself from that rather than burn his manicured lawn. Upon PMing my resignation without prejudice, I was swiftly banned.

There are quite a few plays going on there including alleged incentivised posting activities by a minority group of membership. In my view, it is no longer the Friendly Forum.

Hopefully, I can answer your questions here! :D

Cheers

Steve
