Hi fellow audiophiles


I am based in Cape Town. Been a keen class A solid state fan and have converted to valves about 12 months ago.

Right now, I am very happy with my system and always on the lookout for special recordings

I have been a Krell fan for about 25+ years- Krell Pam 5 and 7b pre with a Krell 50 Mk2, Krell 100 Mk and Krell 150 and then Krell 200s. Still prefer the KSA 100 Mk2 as my personal solid state amp.

Since becoming a SACD convert I bought Yamaha CDS2000 and later a Yamaha CDS3000- a good combo with Krell. Speakers are mostly Newform Research Ribbons

Last year in a moment of weakness I bought an Audio Research LS 27 and this year an Audio Research Ref 110 fell in my lap. A combo that is in my experience not suitable for all speakers but with the right speakers it is magical and totally outclasses my solid state experiences.

Never in my wildest dreams did I anticipate that I would become a valve convert !

I have set my sights on a ARC Ref 6 and Ref150SE but with our current exchange rate it might not happen..

BTW- it currently winter here- freezing cold (no snow) so one is mostly indoors but come summer, Cape Town becomes pure magic.
