Getting back into the hobby late in life. Like vintage gear and the old music of my youth lol. Hope to get some decent speakers as my first foray into my return to the hobby.

Welcome! Are you considering vintage speakers?

Actually one of my concerns is whether it is money wasted buying a relatively new speaker such as the legacy focus se. I would be using accuphase or luxman to drive them. Probably bi amping if luxman.

I've previously owned a pair of Focus (non SE).
They play really big and IMO would be great for the older music as they are not bright sounding.
I did find that they like a reasonable amount of power to come alive. Say 100 watts or more.
Welcome back.

Hello & welcome.

You would not be disappointed with the Focus se. I've not heard them with the amps you mentioned. My friend had a pair for years before upgrading to the V's, he used Coda amps. The Focus are very capable speakers. There should be a few Legacy threads here if you care to search for them.

Thanks. 150w/channel from my p300 and 140/channel biamped from my 2 luxman amps I hope would do. I could bridge the luxman for 300 watts.

I just read a bit about your Accuphase P-300 power amplifier. What a cool piece!

Just an update. Came across a pair of triangle australe for half the money I was considering spending. Really like how they sound so far.

Welcome to the Forum and the Triangle Owners' Club!

First off: I really envy you your glorious location in BC. One of our greatest ever holidays was in Canada some years back and we fell in love with the landscapes and the people of BC. We had to be strong-armed back on to the return flight...

Enjoy the Triangles. I'm lucky enough to own a pair of the Magellan Cellos and the way they bring performers into our room is astonishing. Hope the Australes do the same for you.

Cheers.

Jeff, Sevenoaks, UK.
