Hello,
Some of you have asked "where is ohbythebay"...Rob is doing great. Wife is happy. Daughter (28) just graduated law school (GW University in DC) top 2% of her class. She will be clerking for a Federal judge for 1 year and then working for Covington (top law firm in the US) all arranged. Son (20) finished top of his A school in the Navy - got to choose his base and he picked Everett WA to be close to home. He is on the Nimitz launching and retrieving planes...very cool. He came home a changed man. Left a spoiled rotten brat with an attitude, came back a saint and a man I am proud to call my son. Other daughter is in 2nd year at U of Washing and doing awesome. Job is great, home is great.
So where am I ?
I am whole hog into guns. I own 4 now (2 rifles, 2 handguns). A Marlin 60 .22, a S&W M&P 15 .223 (AR-15), a Glock 19 9mm and a Bersa 380. I go shooting 2 to 3 times a week. I can strip any of them down to the bone, clean and reassemble. And therein lies the story of Rob. I am blessed with OCADOSD - Obsessive Compulsive Attention Deficit Oh Shiny Disorder - LOL. I say blessed because where some of these can be seen as negatives, they are the story of my life and experiences.
All my life, I have become involved in things that were either work related or hobbies, but I never stopped at novice. I had to master them. So when I was a systems programmer, applications programmer and then develop, I was the "go to" resident expert. I could code or debug in my sleep. Learn a new programming language just by looking at it.
I was in a rock band starting at age 31 (1991) for 4 years..never had touched an instrument before. Next thing you know I have a band playing clubs and on the road.
I started a wedding video business in 1999 and turned it into a monster. Did over 1000 weddings in 12 years
I built PC's from scratch when I started the video business because I could not get what I needed off the shelf
You know about my audio experience from player of music to restorer of turntables, tube guy, etc.
Now it is guns.
So whats the downside? In all cases, like a bell curve, I reach a pinnacle point and fall off the cliff in interest. I don't build computers, I don't code, after the band broke up I never touched a bass again, the video business burned me out and don't shoot any video (except my basic turntable setup with over 85K views), I sold my Concept table and just listen to music weekly....But ask me about guns. Whooaaa...LOL
My wife said for my next hobby, she wants to steer me toward something that benefits her...like furniture making...LOL..Gotta love that woman ..she is a thinker.
Miss you guys and if you ever start a handgun forum.....actually, I am living on thehighroad.org - gun forum...go figure....You have to behave there, BANG...LOL
Best to all of you ...Rob
