Hello,

Some of you have asked "where is ohbythebay"...Rob is doing great. Wife is happy. Daughter (28) just graduated law school (GW University in DC) top 2% of her class. She will be clerking for a Federal judge for 1 year and then working for Covington (top law firm in the US) all arranged. Son (20) finished top of his A school in the Navy - got to choose his base and he picked Everett WA to be close to home. He is on the Nimitz launching and retrieving planes...very cool. He came home a changed man. Left a spoiled rotten brat with an attitude, came back a saint and a man I am proud to call my son. Other daughter is in 2nd year at U of Washing and doing awesome. Job is great, home is great.

So where am I ?

I am whole hog into guns. I own 4 now (2 rifles, 2 handguns). A Marlin 60 .22, a S&W M&P 15 .223 (AR-15), a Glock 19 9mm and a Bersa 380. I go shooting 2 to 3 times a week. I can strip any of them down to the bone, clean and reassemble. And therein lies the story of Rob. I am blessed with OCADOSD - Obsessive Compulsive Attention Deficit Oh Shiny Disorder - LOL. I say blessed because where some of these can be seen as negatives, they are the story of my life and experiences.

All my life, I have become involved in things that were either work related or hobbies, but I never stopped at novice. I had to master them. So when I was a systems programmer, applications programmer and then develop, I was the "go to" resident expert. I could code or debug in my sleep. Learn a new programming language just by looking at it.

I was in a rock band starting at age 31 (1991) for 4 years..never had touched an instrument before. Next thing you know I have a band playing clubs and on the road.

I started a wedding video business in 1999 and turned it into a monster. Did over 1000 weddings in 12 years

I built PC's from scratch when I started the video business because I could not get what I needed off the shelf

You know about my audio experience from player of music to restorer of turntables, tube guy, etc.

Now it is guns.

So whats the downside? In all cases, like a bell curve, I reach a pinnacle point and fall off the cliff in interest. I don't build computers, I don't code, after the band broke up I never touched a bass again, the video business burned me out and don't shoot any video (except my basic turntable setup with over 85K views), I sold my Concept table and just listen to music weekly....But ask me about guns. Whooaaa...LOL

My wife said for my next hobby, she wants to steer me toward something that benefits her...like furniture making...LOL..Gotta love that woman ..she is a thinker.

Miss you guys and if you ever start a handgun forum.....actually, I am living on thehighroad.org - gun forum...go figure....You have to behave there, BANG...LOL

Best to all of you ...Rob

Thanks Rob, I hope you have fun with your new hobby !

I think your next hobby should be as a sex addict, that would really benefit your wife :woot:

I am looking...either a .40 or a .45 - Just trying to be less OVER the top with purchases as I was with audio...LOL

The SIG 229 is one of the nicest guns to shoot. My wife does really well with that because the kick is not huge. She also does good with my old Dan Wesson .357.

Enjoy, Rob. I have a little of the same problem/blessing... and I say one key to happiness in life is following your curiosities and passions, wherever they may lead you. If you are truly blessed you will even be able to make a living while doing so.

(Not to be confused with ignoring responsibilities in life, in case any young slackers are reading this.)

I am content for the time with my Sig, a shotgun, and my AR. Though I wouldn't mind a weekend at Frontsite Firearms Training.

nice rob glad all is well with you. im the same way i gain incredible interest in something than just as quickly lose interest.lol!!!
fire off a few rounds with a para ordinance. i always liked the way their 45's fired.
good luck to you!!!

Congrats on your new hobby. It's amazing how you start out with one gun and somehow, they multiply. GLOCKS RULE!!!!

My latest gun is a PWS Mk1 300 Blk with a Eotech HWS sight.

We have an ex Seal commander in the office and he set me up. Sure is fun to shoot. Hope I never actually need it.

Thanks guys...for me I hope I never have to "use" any of them except at the range. I am actually getting pretty good

And yes, pursuing the fun in life (as long as it doesn't take away from the bills...lol) is awesome. I can't say I have been bored !

This is my Smith & Wesson...what a blast to shoot and just as fun to take apart, clean and put back...they are so easy.

Product: Model M&P15 Sport?

The Glock 19 Gen 4 is also very cool. I put a better trigger connector on it and a DPMS systems spring and guide...a lot less recoil and better accuracy.

Okay..back to audio stuff...Rob is alive and well...and packing ...LOL

I just had to get my permit renewed Monday.

Now, getting Ammo is the hard part. I am still waiting for 2 bricks to come in that were ordered close to a year and a half ago. Last update was June delivery.

It's very nice to see you pop like this Rob, and even nicer to know that you and all your family are doing great.

Your first post is telling more about the family man and his various hobbies (life's interests), and we're all into various hobbies, all of us.
It just happened that we're here in an audio forum, that's all. ...Not the beginning or the end of the world just a very sweet hobby; the pursuit of happiness through music listening.

Guns; I was never into this hobby or sport or into hunting, but some of my best friends are hunters (my Dad was).
I do have one knive (big) and one riffle (small), but I never use them. ...And I know nothing about guns.
Here in Canada I guess we have less gun's aficionados compared to some of our friends south of the border. That's ok, nothing's wrong with that.

Someone earlier suggested sex as a good hobby; I concur. :)

Rob, I ain't going to that other site where you are active, but we're all here and we all love you.
