Hello

Reading the mission statement, I realized I have omitted a major detail! I am a home based Sound Lab dealer, and have been for about 8 years. My love for planar speakers led me to several different brands in the early years, but research led me to Sound Lab, a brand I had never heard nor seen. Numerous other planar lovers had posted that they were the best of all the electrostatics, bar none. My interest was piqued, but because the market for large electrostatic speakers is small, very few dealers will floor them. I couldn't find any nearby to audition. Thus I purchased my 1st pair, M-1's, on the used market, unheard and sight unseen. I was not disappointed! This led me to becoming a dealer, and I have had several different models in my home as demos over the years. It is my love of these speakers rather than profit that motivates me. I love to share the beautiful experience of these panels with other music lovers, and invite anyone who is interested to visit and find out for yourself what they are all about. Because I live in the boonies (Jenner is on the Sonoma County coast, 60 miles north of SF) you have to be a true music lover or audiophile to make the trek. If you wish to visit, please send me a PM.

Thanks for letting us know. Auditioning Sound Lab speakers are definitely on my audiophile bucket list. I believe we have quite a few Sound Lab fans here. Welcome!

Thanks Mike, you and all other AS members are welcome. Due to the effort necessary to get here, lunch and a glass of wine is also included in the offer. I am located in one of the great wine producing regions of the world, as well as great cuisine and scenics. This is indeed the Provence of California. Great music through Sound Lab speakers is just the icing on the cake.

Hi Mike being a Sonus Faber owner i know that you are a SERIOUS audiophile please do yourself a favor and accept MthHam's invitation yes Sonus Faber are GREAT boxed speakers but Sound Lab full range panels are in another world believe me i know what i'm talking about i am not a wealhty man but i have the chance of having wealthy audiophile friends that like to share their passion so i'm around very big systems most of the time including the builder of my stats and owner of the most incredible stats that I have ever heard in more than 40 years the DIY Acoustat Spectra 8800 built by Jocelyn Jeanson of Quebec Canada 41x102x10 inches and weigh in at 800 pounds each speaker. I definitely want to hear them, but my room has serious limitations for height and weight. The Aida's are within acceptable engineering parameters - but I wouldn't want to go any heavier - and I can't go any taller. Wilson XLF's and Magico Q7's would be too heavy. The Sound Labs would be too heavy too - and way too tall.

Combined with all that, I have to integrate a 100 inch retractable screen (you can see it in this picture).

The Aida's are the MAX I could fit into my room - and budget!

That being said, I would still love to hear them. I've owned five different electrostatics in my audiophile life. They definitely have their pros (and cons).

Yes Mike you do have a very nice room and very nice gear.

Now, this photo is interesting. My friend Ted (uwbadger) has a room very similar to that. High high ceilings. Lots of glass. He's currently running Vandy 5a's and was a little disappointed (I think) in how they sounded in his room. Maybe the Sound Labs would be ideal for his room (which looks very similar to the one in your photo).

Just one problem......they probably have a very low WAF.

Mike, the Aida's look massive in that room! Maybe the Alexia's would fit perfectly...:D

You're bad! I couldn't even dream of moving them (or selling them). They are big, but they sound soooo good. They don't do anything wrong - top to bottom.

The height of the 945's would definitely be a problem, but the weight not. The panels (with back plates) weigh approximately 200 lbs each. Of course, there are smaller models. Most everyone can accommodate the M-1PX's.

Any they look great too.

I don't want to move speakers; however, if I did Mike's SF would be worth a try!

I don't blame you Mike between Wilson's and Sonus Faber dollar for dollar i choose SF for SOUND & LOOKS no contest.

PS: But i'm a full range panel guy
.:):):)

No problem for him Mike, there is no wife in the picture, he had to choose between the wife and the stereo, he now has an ex wife :)

PS: The room is over 30 feet high.
