As you might guess, I play the piano. I started lessons at age 8, and many decades later I'm still at it, so I guess I'm a fairly advanced player. I started my quest for a good stereo system in my late teens, slowly increasing the quality until I reached my present day system. It's listed in my signature. I'm very happy with it, and I don't plan on upgrading any time soon.

I'm considering adding a headphone system, but that would be an addition, not an upgrade. ;)

Welcome, and nice system.

I started piano lessons in first grade (nun at my school taught piano), and continued into high school. I can read music great, and as a surgeon, have great eye/hand coordination, and dexterity. But I don’t have one microgram of musical talent, and moved on to making things with my hands. (Which I am much better at)

I'm considering electrostatic headphones when the time comes.

while I'm not that much of a headphone fan I have listened to my sons STAX units and thought they were quite good. I'm not sure what other brands are out there but I'm sure they're some ?

Oh yes, there are quite a few. The Dan Clark Audio "Corina" model seems like a contender. Several reviews mention it has more "body" than do some electrostatics, which is appealing. I listened to some Martin Logan electrostatic speakers before I bought my Sonus Fabers. I thought the clarity was amazing, but they lacked a little "body."

I run both a Blue Hawaii SE with Stax, and Dan Clark Voce cans, and a class A Violectric Amp with Meze Elite headphones.

Polar opposites, both great.

Electrostatics are clear, precise, yet thin
Class A dynamics are thick, and rich, but less precise.
