I currently reside in suburbs of Indianapolis, Indiana. Winter weather arriving and I am already looking forward to springtime!

I have lurked around “The Shark” off and on for many years, and finally decided to register and go from there. I tend to not frequent many forums these days, but then do enjoy hearing about others systems and music choices.

I have tended to keep my equipment for a fairly long time, and have left the urge to upgrade quite awhile back. However, as the thought of retirement closes in, potentially, a bit over a year ago, I decided to look for a system that could pretty much accompany me into retirement.

With that thought, I went to several shops and listened to various systems as a whole, trying to avoid mixing and matching issues that I have encountered over the years being in this “hobby”.

Through several good contacts, and working with some very good people in this business, I ended up with the following as my main system:

Holbo air-bearing, linear tracking turntable
Nagaoka MP110 MM cartridge-which will be upgraded in future
Holbo custom made step-up transformer
Croft phono stage via Micro 25 preamplifier(I also own a pair of Series 7 amplifiers)
Innuos Zen Mk2 streamer/media player
LinnenberG Telemann DAC/preamplifier
LinnenberG Allegro monobloc amplifiers
LinnenberG Maestro headphone amplifier/Sennheiser HD660S
Duevel Venus speaker system
DH Labs cabling

Second small system:
Naim Uniti streamer
Guru Junior Plus speakers
Linn K20 speaker cabling

Both systems I totally enjoy for each of their own personality, and between said equipment, some interesting combinations can be fun to play with. I do tend to enjoy a more Omni presentation to my speakers, and have owned several, from Ohm, Larsen, Shahinian.

Very nice system. I wanted Duevel Bella Luna (?) a long time ago but chickened out. I bet yours sound wonderful.
 
Joe, I too would have loved the Bella Luna, it would have probably matched my former room better, just mainly due to size. I moved in spring to an apartment, and the Venus really fit this space nicely now, probably a better thing all around!

Some people remain cautious about buying Duevel here in the US, but I just say that Mutine, the North American distributor, were extremely helpful the whole way from purchasing, to delivery. It is a shame though that there are no dealerships in which to hear them, that makes things very difficult indeed.
 
Hi Tim,

I had Thor Audio TPA-30 mono amps with the TA-1000 preamp. OMG, they were awesome. The guys who bought out Thor was pushing Duevel with Thor. I can only imagine how good that would have sounded as a combo.
 
I vaguely recall the Thor amplifiers, but not the preamplifier at all. I might have to look that one up. Mutine has recommended the Audiomat line of electronics for many years, and had I not already committed to the German LinnenberG amps, I might have gone down that road instead. Another nice amplifier that compliments the Duevel really well is Octave, from Germany. Maybe a German synergy? Who knows, so many choices, so many sounds, not enough money or time!
