Hello All!

First time poster here, just joined Audioshark yesterday. I've read many times posts from Audioshark and I am impressed about the diversity of audio subjects dealt with here in various forae. And also, a very friendly atmosphere here!

I used to be into audio when I was a student (admittedly a long time ago), and as life goes, I got more important things to do, so audio got pushed way back. A few years ago, my interest in audio was rekindled, mostly because my interest in Jazz. I realised that things changed dramatically and this I needed to catch up with so many things, mostly the digital side of audio. But it was fun reading into modern digital audio!

I basically started as a headphone person as I had always been attracted by good headphone sound. So I built my system around the legendary GS-X Mk2 headphone amp, added an Italian R2R DAC from Aqua HiFi, and an Aurender N100H as a transport/streamer along with Sennheiser's HD800 headphones.

I very much liked my audio chain, but after a while, listening to headphones exclusively became a bit tiring, so I geared up for two-channel sound. I did a lot of auditioning with respect to speakers and got really transfixed after I heard speakers from ATC. I then bought the ATC SCM 11 bookshelf speakers and, naturally, needed a power amp. I decided for a Odyssey Audio Khartago with the Kismet upgrades that is fed by the pre-amp section of the GS-X Mk2. Lovely sound altogether!

As things go, I intend to make some changes to my setup, particularly concerning the DAC/pre-amp section. You'll hear more from me in the respective forae.

Great to be here!

Salut Tris!

The only other audiophile I know in Basel is Stefan. I am closer to Genf.

Hop Suisse! LoL

Welcome. I had a similar experience. With other life issues (career and family) my audio interests took a low priority for many years. A few years back I jumped back into this hobby and realized that I had to learn the digital end. Being a computer programmer at least I was not over whelmed by the tech but knew I had much to research.

I have received tremendous help from the great members here on AS! I hope you find the forum to be as helpful as I have.

Ha, at least another Swiss fellow hanging around in the forum 😁! Hop Suisse apparently didn‘t help in the Soccer World Championship 😁.
Hope all is well!

All is well. Golum, lives in Lausanne, though he is not Swiss.

Name here is Paul. The user name, a bit strange I admit, relates to my profession: I am a biochemist and TrisHCl is a substance we use a lot in the laboratory . Just needed something I can remember easily.
