Hello folks

David, there is an Ignore Feature you could use or maybe point out issues to the Admins and owner here if it is blatant trolling. They can shut that person down as opposed to someone with positive contributions banning them self. Don't let the Trollers win. Expose them so the rest of us can also ignore them and their posts.
Thanks Brian, I've basically followed those steps you described above. Think I just thought "Here we go again.." after being hounded by the same trolls on this and other forums.

No one is banning anybody. Least of all you. Please don't take comments or posts as an attack, please just let it ride. I hate this part of my "job" but we all have read posts we don't like. Please try and ignore what you don;t like and move on. Pretty soon they will get tired of "the attacks".
Joe, I understand every member has their bellicose moments where we do a bit of chest-beating. But sustained trolling attacks should not be ignored. Trust me, I know from whence I speak. I let things ride before, only to see the problem metastasise into a bigger problem which resulted in me being effectively ganged up on and banned on another forum, before being banned on this forum previously. As they say, if you throw enough mud...some of it sticks. That's why if you "just let it ride" as you suggested, people start to believe the BS. Anyway, it's dealt with now. Let's move on..

David,

Don't let stuff get under your skin.
We all need to be able to disagree on things and still maintain cordial relations.

AS is very different from other forums. I'm sure a private message to Mike or Joe will help sort things out.

Sincerely.
Thanks Nikhil, I try not to (let people get under my skin). But people become trolls partly because they're good at it. And if you become a target, you need to stand up for yourself and report the offending posts. I did both. The response later posted by Mike was that he didn't care who started the argument and deleted all posts connected to the incident. At the time, I took that to mean no action had been taken against the members behind the offending posts and we were back to the bad old days. However I was surprised and pleased to read Mike's re-assuring comments above which made me feel like this is a safe place to hang out. That's why I re-joined the forum.

Hi David,

Think of it from this perspective, contemplate all the friendships you've made and great conversations you've had on A.S. Don't let one or two bad apples spoil it for you. Take everyone's advice and use the ignore button. This too will eventually blow over.

Best,
Ken
Thanks for your kind words Ken. The Ignore button has seen a fair bit of use since I re-joined the forum. I try to stick to it and not view blocked posts, but in the case of that thread, it just got to the point where I had to do something. However now that the dust has settled, I wont be viewing any of their posts ever again. Folks here know me and know the score. And as Mike said, the members concerned have been warned. So it's water under the bridge now.

David your departure would sadden me, I´m sure the ratio of friends to foes in this forum is overwhelming in favour of the first, at the end of the day trolling exemplifies the trolls character whilst your reaction shows yours, ignore, be happy and make us all happy by remaining here.
Thanks Narayan. My reaction was really just out of frustration given past history. Thanks buddy :).

I agree with all the sentiments expressed here. I swiftly deleted all offending posts and issued warnings. I hope that David returns and we never have to see such behavior again. David, your contributions were always welcome.
Mike, as mentioned above. I appreciate and agree with your comments. And I am grateful for your acknowledgement of my contributions to the site over the years .

glad you are still on the forum . unfortunately this bullying is a feature sometimes of audio forums and takes careful management . hopefully you will be happy here
