New member and this is my first post....looking forward to getting to know folks here. I am a huge lover of classical music who is planning om building a VERY substantial 2 channel system later this year and the 2013 RMAF will be the place where I can seriously start my audition process!! I look forward to sharing that journey with everyone!!!

Cheers,

Many thanks!! I will be more than happy to report the progress as it will be an all out assault on the high end!!!:exciting:

Cheers,

We love "all out assaults!" :D Looking forward to reading about your system as things fall into place. Lots of nice stuff out lately.

So warm and fuzzy!!!! My name is Mark and I live currently in Santa Fe, NM though we will likely be moving to Ohio later this fall.....should be fun and when things get rolling, this place will be the spot to be!!!

I love the bog Romantic pieces (Mahler, Bruckner and R Strauss) though a lot or Baroque gets me pumped up as well....pipe organ (PLAYED LOUD) is also pretty cool too!!!!

Cheers,

From Santa Fe to Ohio, you poor, poor man! :P Please don't tell me Cleveland...

HAHAHAHA, well, I will say this....Santa Fe is a great place to visit but not to live. Too dry, and while I have never shopped for groceries in Alaska or Hawaii, I will say that groceries here are the highest I ever seen. Seriously, unless you are filthy rich and into the local art scene (painting, jewelry, etc which I am not) then really there is nothing to do.......finally, they call this the Land of Enchantment?? Maybe just when you visit...

As far as Ohio, it will be Columbus, not Cleveland, though the Cleveland Orchestra is still world class. I went to grad school at OSU from 1988-1991 and while I experienced some of the coldest bloody weather I have ever seen, I still loved the area. It is close enough to Chicago to go hear the mighty CSO, Pittsburgh has a super fine orchestra and even Philly is not that far away. Best of all, I still have many friends in the Columbus area and after being here in Santa Fe for almost a year, I have yet to find a church I like and I know no one locally.

SO, I am thrilled to get back to 'ol Columbus town!!!

Cheers,

I like Santa Fe to hang out. Great food but never have really bought groceries so I had no idea they were so high.

I developed a little condo complex 3 blocks from square, so I was there a lot for a couple years.

The minimum wage here is high, like almost $12/hour. I have always wondered (but never confirmed) that everything is priced higher based on the fact that the minimum wage is high. I know of people who live in Albuquerque and commute to Santa Fe (by the Rail Runner train) and they have stated that apartments and groceries are much cheaper there. I just wish that some of the powers that be here realize that not everyone who lives in Santa Fe resides in $1MM+ homes up in the hills. Honestly, I do not know how some of the people manage to make it here unless they are on substantial government assistance.

I am ready to get out of here, and, relegate Santa Fe back into the "nice place to visit" and just come back to stay a few days. Sadly, I cannot get into the red/green chili thing here and I miss the large number of Tex-Mex places we had back in Austin, TX where I grew up.....some of the food here is so dang hot it is scary and unless you love the heat, you always have your red or green chili sauces on the side until you have tasted to gauge the heat....

Cheers,

As I said, I enjoyed my three years in Columbus. It is a moderate drive to the east coast of the US, and easy drives to Chicago, Pittsburgh and, as a fan of the Cleveland Orchestra, an short drive up IH-71 to the University Park area of town (home of Case Western, an art museum, the Cleveland Institute of Music and of course, Severance Hall)... .best of all, if one is heading to Europe, it is a short flight from Columbus to JKF....

Cheers,
