Has any body purchased from LPGear in Nevada?

As long a everything goes right you are o.k., but if there is a problem good luck getting in touch with them unless you report them to the cc company. Husband and wife team working out of their house and storage building. Seem to have some sort of extremely tight connection with AT USA, so maybe a former employee.

Just be careful. They also sell Ortofon carts, but are listed on Ortofon's blacklist of unauthorized dealers. As Jack said, if something goes wrong (all the way up to getting a bum or QC reject cart) your pretty much SOL unless the CC company can so something, but they want to be paid too and if the company in question doesn't come through, it's back on you. Purchasing accessories such as P-mount to Standard mount adapters or stylus brushes and such is likely not much to worry about. I was tempted a couple of times to order a cart from them, but after seeing them listed on the Ortofon site it gave me pause.

A friend of mine went to the address on their Website in Las Vegas--Private house --the owner/occupier never heard of LPGear and shut the door in his face!

Don't know why or how, but I have talked to AT USA in Ohio about styli for older AT manufactured cartridges and their first recommendation is always LP Gear, so there is some connection. Wouldn't buy from them under any circumstances for cartridges or styli. Like Eric said, accessories are different, though their shipping charges are pretty outrageous. They wanted $9 shipping for a set of headshell wires you could put in an envelope for 42 cents.

turntableneedles.com is a great place to buy from but they are a bit more expensive (up front) and backordered at the moment. They give you 10% back from each order to use toward a future order so technically they can beat lpgear's price. You may want to contact them to see how long they are on backorder for.

I second that.
If your going Ortofon, especially an uber expensive cart like that, go reputable dealer please. That way should something go south, you have backing. Ortofon are sticklers about returns and such and probably for good reason.

Go with Jeff !

Got my Lyra Kleos from him, and will definitely use him in the future.
i fifth that, table arm and cartridge from jeff and couldnt be happier. he is the turntable whisperer!!
