GTI mkVI

I had a MKVI GTi, but 2 years ago traded it in for a JSW TDi due to wanting more space and fuel economy. Next week I'm installing a 1,000 mile GTi suspension on it as I really miss the GTi's handling.

I LOVE my 2004 R32. Perfection.

I had a Mark V

It's a really fun car to drive. I'm looking forward to the 2015 R especially if they bump up the HP!

Oh; the HP is going up! The stock mkVII...is going from 200>210; with the R, rumored to be coming in at 290 (though the official number for the US, has yet to be determined).

It's also getting...among other things, of course; "three specially tuned driving modes: Race, Normal, and Individual (similar to Audi’s customizable setup). In addition to altering throttle and damper settings (and shift points if you opt for the dual-clutch auto), the Race mode opens a valve in the exhaust that adds a more aggressive growl to the soundtrack"...these can be selected, on the fly, from the touchscreen console.

Also...it's the first R, to get automatic transmission; and it actually times-out faster, than with a manual (5-flat, vs. 5.3). Oh yeah; and...LAUNCH CONTROL!!! :celebrate008_2:

I'm actually officially on the wait-list with my dealer; but it's more of a courtesy, than anything else. I just bought my mkVI in February; I'd take too much of a bath, to trade-in. Have to settle for pics. Anyone in line to snag one?

This link, has great pics of the Euro-spec model http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/hatchbacks/1407_2015_volkswagen_golf_r_euro_spec_first_test/; and here...how about picking up, this modded beast (365 horses, 0-60 ~4.4secs)

What can I say

I compete with my wife's Subaru STI. So the GTI gets left behind, but is every bit as fun!!!!

I went with Porsches to compete but sold to buy speakers - go figure. :)

Chris, Darrin, very sweet rides! I love the whole VW Group (I own an Audi). The GTI's have an amazing stock exhaust, love it!:safe:

Lots of low end torque and handling to die for. Truly live's up to the motto "a drivers car".

Love the pics you guys posted!

Chris, that S1 is going to be a screamer!! I've been eyeing the S3 as I have a family of four and the S3 may accommodate the fam more. Question is cab or hatch?

I currently have the S4 - my favorite car I have ever own.

Obtw, congrats on the Moderator gig! Great to have you in the Shark Tank!

Allen,

You owned me a picture of your car
last time when I was with you had a loaner
Yours is a Type R version ?

Ah good memory, Nelson!

No RS4 if that's what you mean. Just an S4, but preferable IMO as it doesn't suffer from carbon buildup like the RS4.
