Gryphon Audio. Probably the best gear in town?

To be honest, I have no aspirations of being a distributor. Would I do it 5 or 10 years from now? Who knows? For now, I enjoy talking with people and providing the best consulting services I can. I'm also probably too geeked out playing with all the gear to take on the headaches of distribution.

This is a most interesting video of Gryphon's founder and CEO, Flemming Rasmussen discussing his company's design philosophy, including how their home country of Denmark influences it :audiophile:.

Great video! Very un-Gryphonlike if I may say. Their videos are usually cooler. This one is very intimate. I liked it.

By the way, Rune Skov, the cool blond guy on the video, is one of the nicest, if not the nicest, guy I met in this hobby. I've had the privilege to host him at my house this summer. He is cool, helpful and knowledgeable.

When I went to Munich last year, I went to one of Gryphons invitation demonstrations. This was only possible due to my personal relation to Rune Skov, whom is a good friend of our family :D

First i must say, I love the designs of the Gryphon products. It's a very Scandinavian design. Their products seems very maskuline and "raw" to look at !

I had never heard any of the Gryphon products before ( I should be ashamed, I live i Denmark lol ! :S) but i had heard great things about their amplifiers especially.

At the demo, we listened to their new Kodo speakers ( the big ones ) which has to be combined from two parts to one per speaker due the weight and size. I'm not entirely sure, what amplification they used. They used their own cable series as well.

My impression :

I had a hard time judging the system, due to the choice of music. It was very | ping, pong, ding, kung :exciting: | If you get what i mean. It was typically "music" that you would use to test your own system against other components ( Why not use music people are familiar with? ), but the only real reference you can do at such a show, is to compare the different companies rooms and sound.

I must say, for such an expensive system I had expected more. I'm not saying it was bad, but i wasn't blown away that's for sure.

Maybe I'll be lucky to hear their products at another time in another environment ( showrooms tends to be too small or too narrow etc etc etc.. :) )

There's a topic for a great thread in there. A great system plays all genres of music well and you can still enjoy the bad recordings right along side the good ones.

A new promo video on the design & construction of The Gryphon Kodo loudspeakers. There's plenty of those annoying kodo drums, and the voice-over is a bit deadpan, but still cool :audiophile:..
