When I went to Munich last year, I went to one of Gryphons invitation demonstrations. This was only possible due to my personal relation to Rune Skov, whom is a good friend of our family
First i must say, I love the designs of the Gryphon products. It's a very Scandinavian design. Their products seems very maskuline and "raw" to look at !
I had never heard any of the Gryphon products before ( I should be ashamed, I live i Denmark lol ! :S) but i had heard great things about their amplifiers especially.
At the demo, we listened to their new Kodo speakers ( the big ones ) which has to be combined from two parts to one per speaker due the weight and size. I'm not entirely sure, what amplification they used. They used their own cable series as well.
My impression :
I had a hard time judging the system, due to the choice of music. It was very | ping, pong, ding, kung :huh::exciting: | If you get what i mean. It was typically "music" that you would use to test your own system against other components ( Why not use music people are familiar with? ), but the only real reference you can do at such a show, is to compare the different companies rooms and sound.
I must say, for such an expensive system I had expected more. I'm not saying it was bad, but i wasn't blown away that's for sure.
Maybe I'll be lucky to hear their products at another time in another environment ( showrooms tends to be too small or too narrow etc etc etc..

)
